Hey guys, so in my Leadership class we were assigned to do a project on someone you felt was a leader. I decided to do my project on Greg Ellis. I was wondering if anyone could post a few notes or facts that make Greg Ellis a leader. Thanks a lot in advance. It's much appreciated.

why didnt you pick some 1 way better than greg ellis? i could think of 10 better leaders who were on the cowboys.. 100 better leaders that have been in the NFL and a great amount of non-athletic leaders. But if you will do it on greg ellis, write how he changed positions to help out the team and how hes helped jason hatcher and other young defensive rookies.

Do a search on this site with his name. There are plenty of articles. He is the Defensive Team Captain.

Well, I'm somewhat of a football newbie since I've only been following the 'boys for 3 years (I'm 16, I'm from Canada, and my family does not seem to care much for foootball). So, Greg Ellis was the first cowboy that came to mind when the project arose. If anyone could come up with another current cowboy who would make for a much better subject, your input would be greatly appreciated.

I think he is a great choice.

Use the search function above and type in his name. It'll give you plenty of research material. Stuff int he Article Zone will be your best results.

Considering the fact that your call sign is Tar Heel 16, I understand why you would pick Greg Ellis.

I think you can start with the fact that he was drafted specifically for some of the reasons you just mentioned. At the time, the Cowboys were trying to fix an image problem and drafting High Character guys became important. We passed over more highly rated players, still on the board, such as Randy Moss, Keith Brookings, Kevin Dyson and even fellow UNC DE Vonnie Holliday (a better pure pass rush DE).

For the most part, Ellis has always been a team first guy. He settled for less money in order to help the Cowboys with the cap,

He has played any role asked of him. Strong Side DE, Weak Side DE and even DT in a 43. Nickle Pass rush specialist and now OLB in a 34. Always giving maximum effort if not always agreeing with the position move.

He leads by example as opposed to showing up in the papers with legal issues.

Couple to start.
