Senior Bowl Thread

This offensive tackle class if just awful, none of them should have a 1st round grade.

Von Miller size looks like Roy Williams (safety) after a Biscuit for lunch. Great athlete, heck no way, he can be 3-4 LB at that size, unless he puts on good 20+ lbs.

He's an inch taller and 2 pounds lighter than James Harrison, who some call the best 3-4 OLB in the league

Yeah I agree with that scouting service that says he's a guard.

That actually jumped out to me early today and i even posted it on the front page.

Carimi should.

Carimi is not better than all the OT playing. They are all about the same. Even OG Moffitt has not been that good. Carimi is no top 10 pick.

Some might be biggest minority. I happen think Lamar Woodley is better than James Harrison, but thats just my opinion, so who cares I guess.

Anyway, unless you measured James Harrison, I doubt that guy is shade over 6 feet if that. The guy is built like a truck lower body wise. Huge Difference.

Von Miller clearly is not built like that. He looks more angular, and more like a Strong Safety, a big strong Safety than a LB at this point. Either way, he will have to be a specialist his first year in NFL ( on passing downs that is), before he builts up his body to be fulltime starter to be an 3-4 outside LB. He does seem to be special athlete though, no doubt about that obviously.

I wouldn't even consider O-line in the 1st round of this draft. Start peeking in the 2nd.

Carimi may not be a top 10 pick but he is the best tackle there IMO and easily a 1st rounder and day 1 starter.

Yea he's probably the best of the bunch. I'd give him a late 1st round grade, but he'll probably be drafted higher.

Fine, the point is Harrison, a guy who is too small by the standards of your post, would start for any 3-4 team in the NFL.

Placing qualifiers on statements after the fact is indicative of a poor argument

He was big enough to be an every down OLB in a BCS conference and racked up half of his 29 sacks over the past two seasons against NFL quality tackles. He'll be fine.

If by "specialist" you mean playing nearly every down and rotating different LB positions, then I agree. The kid will be a 3-down player. Book it.

Here's the major difference, Harrison is about 100x more physical a player than Miller.

Sorry man, I don't know what it is, but Reed reminds me of Barbie... I just can't sell myself on it.

Or Clay Matthews..

Barbie never rushed the passer the way this guy does.

And Miller is a better edge rusher than Harrison is. What's your point? The issue was does he have the size to be an NFL 3-4 OLB, not is he more physical that the hardest hitting, dirtiest player in the league.

Is that the same guy I just saw in first half beaten silly with speed move by Ryan Kerrigan?.

No. .and it's easy to confuse with the guy you're talking about because the helmets are so similar. The guy you're talking about is LOVE, the OT from Arkansas, who was posterized by Kerrigan several times.

Its not he was beaten occasionally, but apparently he lead the league in getting beat deep. So Berry has underperformed so far, Earl did play better than him in their respective Rookie years.

Now, having said that, Berry played great in the one and only Playoff game. Earl wasn't bad but didn't stand out like Berry did.

I respect Mike Mayock the most among the "TV" draft experts. He doesn't try to insist he is right or better than anybody. He just says, thats his opinion, and some differ from him.

He was right on money about Darren McFadden and he was right on money about Demarcus Ware, when not many Draft Experts pegged him to be special. At least I didn't hear Mel Kiper and such say Demarcus Ware is a sure fire player in NFL.

He was right on Money about Matt Ryan, when many, including me, thought he was just being a Boston College homer.
Then you weren't watching. The last month everyone had Ware shooting up the board and thought he had all the tools.

What exactly was he right on the money about McFadden?

It will be interesting to see his official measurements at the combine because Miller looks more like he is 225-230.
