I'm asking not to sound brash, because I really don't know and haven't been following...has there been a better rookie interior lineman than Frederick this season?? Who was the C for 'Bama everyone wanted?? How's he looked?? I can't even remember his name, so what does that tell you?? Cooper, Warmack, other G from Kentucky?? Hasn't T Fred looked the best?? On a separate note...does he have a shot as a rookie pro bowler this season?? Or did they already do away with the PB??

I had Frederick rated behind Barrett Jones and actually Brian Schwenke I liked the best, but I have no complaints on our guy at all. Looks like we have a solid starter for a long time.

just based on names you hear about i would say T Fred and Long in Chicago have been the better interior linemen rookies. but with that position it's probably hard to say b/c you're not going to hear names much nationally unless they are getting their QB killed. obviously Cooper got hurt in preseason so he's out and you don't hear much about Warmack.

i definitely think that T Fred's play has justified his pick and is a smack in the face to all the critics who bashed that move. pro bowl as a rookie is unlikely b/c i'm sure there are veteran centers who will be up for that spot, but he has for sure been impressive and has had way more good plays than rookie mistakes and for a center that is huge.

for me i'm just happy that i'm not seeing Romo having to jump up to get the ball every time he's in shotgun.

bottomline is T Fred has played very well

Barrett Jones was never going to play this year, he has the dreaded lisfranc injury where he was not able to place weight on his foot, never a good thing for an NFL lineman, you might remember we had a fourth rounder a couple of years ago that had the same injury (Isiah Stanback). So the jury is out on him, for at least another season.
Larry Warford who we faced a couple of games ago with Detroit is having a great rookie season at Guard, I have not heard much about the Titans Chance Warmack(they also drafted Schwenke) since he called out JJ Watts as just another player in September. Jonathan Cooper the other premier interior lineman suffered a season ending injury early in the season.
I think we got another Jason Witten type player who was well disguised prior to the draft, not so sure he is lighting the world on fire for the probowl, way above average and seems to be getting better IMO.

In terms of immediate productivity and impact I dont think any have been better than Frederick. In terms of ceiling, jury is still out.

Is his ceiling as high as Tyron Smith? Certainly not, but an off-season should help him get a little stronger - he's looks like there is still some work to be done on moving fat to muscle. Also, given his smarts, he is going to benefit greatly from the game experience - particularly as he gets more familiar with the NFC East opponents.

But really what is going to benefit him the most is having a good G on both sides.

Your rating them based on what?

Larry Warford is already becoming a dominant player. So throw him in there too.
I'm really pysched that we got Escobar instead of him though.

So are we going to hear this for the rest of our lives? On who we should've picked? Is it going to take Escobar being a Pro Bowler to stop hearing about that? Probably wouldn't even matter. Might have to be a perennial 1st teamer to stop people from mentioning it.

yea, I meant in terms of the other rookies this year. Cooper I still think has the most potential.

Callahan didn't like Warford for his scheme because of limited mobility. He wasn't on the board. The Cowboys would likely have taken Terrance Williams there if not Escobar with RB being the third option.

Honestly, I'd rather they would have taken Terrance Williams in the second. He has proven to be the better player so far.

Not to rain on everyone here but the end of the detroit game was really bad for Fred. I was very impressed with him early in the season but he has been worse lately. I still think he has had a good season overall and will be a good player. Teams have started to figure some stuff out with him IMO.

I think he had a good game against the Vikings.
