So answer the other question. What other player in the same class of player that Murray is has been cut so early by his team that they absorbed a massive cap hit?

It's not happening.

Albert Haynesworth and his 100 Million dollar contract comes to mind

Haynesworth was a major headache. Wouldn't practice, had off the field and on the field issues, etc. Galette, another example, had serious off the field issues that forced the Saints hands.

So again, where is the example of a guy with a big contract who is in his prime, that got cut just because he didn't have a good year?

umm..Albert Haynesworth, the Commanders version that signed a 100 Million dollar contract and didn't perform in his prime. And just like Murray had his best year in his contract year.

As much as we keep talking about him, what would be scary is a new HC comes in and want to run the ball and builds their Olibe instead of running the #hurryup3&out

Imagine if Elliott, Fournette, Chubb AND Henry were all coming out next year?

D. Booker needs to be on this list. He's L. Bell like and probably my target if we're picking late in the 1st RD since Zeke will be off the board.

He was cut because he was a problem child who wouldn't practice and became a major headache. He refused to attened offseason workouts, he missed practices, he fought with coaches, etc. The Skins got fed up with him and traded him to New England.

Trying to compare that to a potential scenario where Murray would underperform this year and the Eagles would then cut him is hilarious. Unless of course you are telling me Murray is going to become a giant ****** over the next few weeks where he confronts coaches, skips practices, gets in fights with teammates.

Let's also note that Haynesworth signed in 2009, was a total bust and a problem child in 2009 and the Skins still kept him for the 2010 season before finally giving up.

So again, the idea the Eagles are going to cut Murray after one season and take a massive cap hit is laughable IMO.

So his production dropping off by a solid 50% had zero to do with it? oookkayyyyyy

I agree with this. It's way too early to say they truly stink. If that's the case then Seattle, Colts, Balty, Detroit all stink as well and we know that isn't true.

Seattle, Indy, Balt, and Detroit are emitting a slight odor...Philly has just plain stunk!

I'm not familiar with D. Booker. I'll have to look him up.

Who knows, but I suspect his production was a big factor. But the bigger problem was the Haynesworth had become a complete and total headache for the Skins to deal with. In other words, I doubt they just send him to New England and take a big cap hit if Haynesworth is a good soldier, who worked hard and was a popular teammate.

But he wasn't. He was hated by most players. The coaches got fed up with him. He didn't practice. That's the biggest reason they eventually gave up (after two years, as well).

So again, trying to use the Haynesworth situation as proof the Eagles could cut Murray is bizarre. Unless, of course as I said, you think Murray is just going to become a huge headache for them.

Problem is your question was "What other player in the same class of player that Murray is has been cut so early by his team that they absorbed a massive cap hit?" and Albert Haynesworth fits that mold to a T, I know it doesn't play well into your argument but doesn't make it less true.

Touche. You are right. I should have been clearer.

But also, technically, the OP is talking about the Eagles cutting Murray after one season for poor performance and the Skins actually kept Haynesworth for a 2nd season even after sucking his first season in Washington.

Chip Kelly just doesn't seem to be very rationale as this past offseason points out so I could see and would love to see Murray cut after 1 season.

But the flip side is Kelly is very protective of his guys. Murray was a guy he brought in. The guys with big contracts he typically dumps are holdovers from Reid who he deemed as problem kids because they didn't buy into the system - Mathis, Jackson, Shady, Boykin. Every one of those guys had an issue with Chip. Murray doesn't appear to be one of those types of guys.

I cuold see them cutting him if there was a small cap hit. But there isn't. There is no way they are taking a $13MM cap hit for a guy they brought in and has been nothing but a good soldier.

If Chip keeps using him the way he is using him I think Murray will quickly have an issue. I didn't think he was one of those type of guys until I seen his pissy attitude this past Sunday.

I really think Murray is out of philly after this year.

Question: how much guaranteed money will he walk away with?

I could see him back in Dallas.

Would the guarantee money for eagles and new contract for Dallas get him close to his mega deal if he stayed with eagles?

Don't want him back.
