Serious question... why do we give DeSean Jackson a free release of the LOS

He is small...injured...and could REALLY be slowed down if you get into his pads. With our pass rush, I could easily see Donavan moving on to his next target if we beat him up at the LOS. Thoughts zoners?

that's flirting with danger. djax slips the press and you're going to get burnt. eagles thrive on the big play, press could work 4 out of 5 times but that 5th time is going to hurt.

Cause all he does is run deep, with a few crossing routes mixed in. No point in getting up trying to jam him.

BS. Jenkins can run with him. If TNEW is healthy he can too.

How ever the Cowboys have been playing Jackson, it's apparently been successful. They've no need to change it at this point.

Actually, that's what's needs to be done. If you look at the films, most if not all his TDs scored as a receiver have been with him just simply running unchecked down the middle of the field. It's exactly what happened last week too, only McChunky overthrew him. He simply ran by Newman, right down the middle of the field.

He needs to be checked at the LOS, and if necessary, have a safety over the top. By hitting him, it throws off the timing since he' s not big enough to overcome it.

They can but the speed advantage would still go to Jackson. The point here is if the CB MISSES on a jam at the LOS, he's at a major disadvantage because of Jackson's speed.

The smart thing is to give him a little cushion, bump him a little bit within the 5-7 yds the refs give you and then cover.

For all the people saying we shouldn't change a thing, I would like to point to the game film. Re-watch it with eyes solely on DJax. If the Eagles decide to go after intermediate routes with him it could be a problem. The knock on the Eagles is that they are a big play offense and can't sustain a long, chain-moving drive.

Just go back and look at how much space we are giving him. Our corners said so themselves this week. They are trying to prevent bombs. When you look at the matchup, obviously the Eagles can't win with the same offensive strategy they've been using. I think if they have Djax break-off routes earlier they could really move the ball in chunks.

WE're bracketing him on most plays, just like we did in the first game...he's their biggest threat. The CB plays under with him, taking awaY the short stuff and no worrying about double moves, while the S stays behind him.

We've dominated him for two games; why would we change anything?

Agreed, the Eagles have averaged 8pts a game this year against us and we've held him to 5 catches for well under 100 yards in two games. I say we stick to the script. He's not a good posession receiver.

To date i don't have a problem with how we defend him. For the most part he's been a non-factor against the Cowboys for his short career.

Both, Hamlin and Newman said that Wade puts the defense in a position to succeed as long as everyone stays disciplined and plays as a unit as opposed to playing as a group of individuals. It's hard to argue against the success that they've had.

Desean Jackson is going to make a play or two. It's hard to completely shut down a guy with that kind of speed. The Cowboys play him in a way that may give him a touch or two here and there, but to date he hasn't really made any game changing, momentum shifting plays against us.

I'll take the way we're doing it all day long.

If the Eagles decide to do something they haven't done all year, then yes, Jackson could be open all day on crossing patterns. I'm sure Wade sees and understands this and will have a plan in place just in case the Eagles do decide to completely go away from what they've done all year. It's the playoffs, so I guess anything is possible.

For a guy like Jackson, you have to keep him in front of you. If you jam, he is going to get behind you and then it is 1-1 with the safety. You don't want that in the first 2 seconds of a play. By the time he is getting on the safety, you are hoping that the pass rush is there.

That IMO is why you don't jam him at the line.

DeSean Jackson is a freak, the speed he showed on that crossing route last week was blinding. Dallas thus far has done a fantastic job at containing the young phenome, but sooner or later he's bound to break out.

This game has VOoDOO writen all over it, good thing magic isn't real.
