Serious Randy Gregory question

Stephen Jones was asked about Gregory at the Senior Bowl and didn’t want to talk about him. That pretty much tells you where Gregory is with the team right now. Anyone still hanging to some hope with him needs to let go.

It tells you that until the NFL says he is ineligible then you have to operate under the premise that he is in compliance....... and if he is in compliance that means he has been clean and passed every test for a year

He wanted to wait until after the playoffs and season to re-apply so he wasn't a distraction or negative headline...... it also gave him a couple more months to strengthen his case
How would being approved to return to the team a negative headline? You said he is clean by all indications.

There still exists a hope for a player to overcome a whole bushel of problems...but then we have to have realistic expectations for success. But fragile personalities rarely put their own nose to the grind enough to truly overcome. Pacman already was proven, yet never retraced footsteps to be a great player again. Kind of a Humpty Dumpty story in the making.

He is ineligible. If he wasn't, what is he reapplying for?

Can you find one that says he failed another drug test? I can't, so the only other reality is that he has been clean for over a year.

I'm not sure anyone even knows if the NFL reports failed tests while a player is banished. Then again, there aren't many players who have failed this many times. Blackmon's issues might be close and it was speculated that his denial for reinstatement was a result of a failed or missed test.

While it’s not fully known why Blackmon was denied reinstatement, Long (via Mike Dempsey of 92.5 FM in Jacksonville) indicates that it’s either due to another failed test or missed drug test

Nobody knows but also everyone knows. Basically, there was never a report but we now think that is the case.

I don't think anyone should take anything from a lack of comment by the league. When he is either reinstated or denied reinstatement, that's when we'll know.

Doesn't he have to take the next step and ask/apply/beg the NFL for reinstatement? Wasn't that the process for Josh Gordon? If he hasn't done that he's either (A) still smokin da bong; (B) not overly motivated to play football or (C) the NFL has decided that the suspension of "at least one season" is more than one season. His motivation to play football was always a big question even in college. If he is reinstated by the league, I'd give him another shot. Nothing to lose except a roster spot for some one more deserving and who is to judge who is deserving and who isn't?

What you have to understand about Gregory is that Jerry passed on Randy Moss due to pot and personality issues to take ... Greg Ellis, maybe? .... and came to regret it. So we went through a phase taking every first round player whose stock dropped due to criminal record or injury in order to find a bargain. It hasn't really worked.

I wanted Gregory gone two years ago when all this went down. What does it tell the other players on the team when a guy continually gets into trouble but is held onto because of potential. He has serious addiction that he put over the team and he just focus on himself and his football day are more than likely done. But this whole process could of been used as a tool of discipline an leadership by cutting him, letting the other players know were not going to stand for this. Its one thing if it is one time but Gregory was getting busted when on suspension for the same thing.

If Dallas was still playing it could be seen as a distraction

For the rest of the NFL I am sure Goodell wants the focus on the Super Bowl and not suspensions

He also said he could use the extra time to strengthen his case and his recovery

Its nice the boys have supported him, but c'mon, you really think he will ever play in the nfl? what a shame

What good is that attitude?

DAL has nothing to lose and everything to gain by sticking with him
His talent was never in question

Sorry if fans can't deal with a couple roadblocks and need instant gratification on all matters

Asking them to not draft known drug addicts is not too much to ask.

Anyone have any updates? I know he is wishful thinking but I think he is the best DLineman on the team. A real talent if they can get him straight. This video got me pumped up when they drafted him. A letdown since. I still believe he makes an impact. Watch the video if you missed it. Any updates anywhere?

If he can't make it back to football he should consider trying to get a roll in the movie Up in Smoke II :lmao2:

On Gregory, the fact remains that he as of yet has not requested reinstatement from the NFL...and it's time to kick into gear if he hopes anything as to professional football in his life.
