The Dolphins are reportedly seeking a fourth round pick for QB John Beck.

Source: Miami herald

I think that is a little high for an unprove QB. IMO, the Cowboys should pass and stick with Brad Johnson for now.

basically we trade down 1 spot
That was funny, but it's two spots, the Bears will be worse.

that is crazy.he cant even be a no 3 guy for miami-why would we give a 4th?.all the other teams(who are looking for a backup QB) will want a guy who can step in immediately and wont a give a 4th for him either.i would give a 6th for either simms(i prefer him) or Beck.

Bill Parcells will probably keep Pennington as the starter, McCown and Henne will fight for #2 and #3 and Beck will be cut. Why give up anything?

I thought I was alone w/ the Bears. They have to be the weakest offensive team in the league,

We say a 7th. They say 4th.

I wouldnt be shocked to see something like our 5th for Beck and 2 7's

I havent done a ton of reserch on next years mid round QB's yet though

I'm actually getting giddy about the possibility we will add Beck, because I think next year's crop is not so good.

I know the Cowboys really wanted John David Booty this year. This isn't a bad consolation at all. A 5th or lower is a great deal for him.

IMO

Why? Beck is #4 on Miami's depth chart! If he was all of that they wouldn't of brought in McCown and Pennington let alone drafting Henne.

BTW, Booty, was stink'n up some Booty while playing in the preseason game.

I am not allowed to disagree with Saint Bill Parcells? Man, that's a shame since I do. I guess I'm going to hell.

Sometimes there are other reasons for someone to slide down a depth chart.

It's a low risk move on a young man with good character.

1. Because someone is likely going to give up something for him

2. Because if he is cut, he'll be claimed by a team before we can get him

How about our 5th for Beck and their 1st next year?

I think people don't understand that before a person who is cut is absolutely free to sign with anyone else, that teams can put in a waiver wire claim on him and we are way down the claim ladder because we were 13-3 last year.

Put it this way, you draft a potentially strong #2, in his mid 20's, who had a high grade from a ton of teams last year for a 5/6.

Most of our picks past the 4th round next year wil be used in a trade up or traded for future picks. B/C we cant possible draft 12-13 players, and we cant trade our comp. picks.

So we could potentialy get the long term back up QB thing out of the way early.

Or we coud pull an AJ Feely on some team down the line(If we showcase Beck in a future pre-season game w/ our 1st team AKA Pro Bowl squad)

Of course I believe Miami can just trade him for cash considerations instead of placing him on the waiver wire. Jerry sends Miami $x00k and Miami sends the Cowboys Beck. Cowboys trade nothing football related and Miami doesn't walk away empty handed.

I would not give a 4th round pick for Beck. i would give our 5th, because that's so close to a 6th that I think it's reasonable. I like Beck but I would not give a 4th for him. JMO.

I think you are right. And I know he'd be long gone.
