When did Jerry get knighted?

It is a term of respect. Back home, such titles are granted re service, respectability, bravery etc.
Here, money and publicity assure the title. Yes, new money, ostentaciousness and all that -- so American.
But Sir Jones, by his 3 Super Bowl rings, his luxury stadium and his mover and shakerdom, makes the cut to semi-royalty.

If you guys hired Shanahan as a consultant these things will happen in this order:

- Your running game would improve instantly, as Jones would randomly draft a 5th round nobody to break DeMarco Murray's single season record.
- Adam Shefter will immediately know and start reporting a hell of a lot of inside information from the front office.
- All drama within the locker room will headline Sportscenter....on Sunday one hour before kickoff.....EVERY. SINGLE. SUNDAY.
- Jim Haslett, or some other retread loser currently not coaching in the NFL will make it onto your defensive staff.
- The Cover 0 formation becomes your defense's go-to play on 3rd and long.
- Point Scored Against stat skyrockets.
- Jason Garrett becomes increasingly frustrated as Shanahan begins attending team meetings, and openly questioning the gameplan....on Friday, and strongly suggesting the gameplan be changed. Of course, it's too late to actually practice any other gameplan.
- Shanahan is fired, and the very next day he'll do an interview on local radio talking about all the things he would've done that would've been so much better if he had the chance.

So yeah, I'm all for this idea. JJ make it happen.

He cannot be referred to as Sir Jones since the US is not a British commonwealth, but he can use the post nominal letters. So it would be Jerry Jones KBE. Sux. Sir Jerry sounds better

knight of the british empire. No, he is no knight. More of a knave. But I still like him for being a proactive GM.

That is a superb job of minimizing an often-great coach in a solid coaching career.

I guess we can just ignore who has the most Super Bowl rings, correct there bloke?

often great coach? or was it great because he had Elway....probably a top 5 all time QB....without him shanahan was just average. I don't say that....the record speaks too loudly to ignore....

landry went beyong staubach. 18 winning seasons in a row. he also took a team with danny white to 4 straight NFC championships. and went to 5 superbowls.

chuck knoll built one of the greatest teams of all time.

shanhan came to a team and inherited john Elway who had taken the team to 3 superbowls already. he obviously showed he can't build or maintain a team.

you got a lot to learn son.....learn NFL history, understand it. absorb it. then think

The thing that is wrong with your thesis is that yes, Landry was HC in winning 2 super bowls and the rest in gridiron futility.
And how strange that Shanahan "inherits" a super bowl winning QB and Landry simply does it on his own. As for all those winning seasons were followed by an almost equally long drought of winning, due perhaps to stagnation in strategy, poor drafts and letting the rest of the NFL pass him and the Cowboys by. it was all too much for Bum and then Sir Jones who just wanted the awful Landry years or the 1980s to go away.

That, too, is part of NFL history. You need to understand it. Absorb it and, hopefully, will make you think before you go all boastful about a regime that declined and horribly so.
Thank goodness for Jimmy Johnson.

well given how young you are...and seemingly not much of a NFL history student. Landry was the first coach of the cowboys, who built the team from scratch....Elway did go to the superbowl without shanahan.....and Shanahan never duplicated his success. Landry to date is the only team that went to 18 straight playoffs.... that means drafting at the bottom of the first round, 18 straight years..... you have a lot to learn son..... just take the lessons and say thanks

Gee, Landry the draft guru. No help from anyone, bloke!
You'd think Mount Rushmore would make room . . . ;)
If you did not get the memo, lad, the NFL operates on the premise of "what have you done for me lately?" So, sorry, you'll have to build in the "greatest" narrative into the horrible 1980s of a coach who didn't budge, didn't change and then chose to play tag-yer-it across the state while pouting big time that he was on the way out. You, too, have a lot of learn, CFIDC. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are a modern team that might go far, a lot further than any team went under Landry in the horrible 1980s.

Bloke. Let me get this straight. You have 9 different psychologists?
That explains a lot.
Sorry. I didn't know I was dealing with a wounded soul.
Go and get help. Maybe not today while you eat cereal in front of the TV, but get help.
I will pray for you, mate.
I just hope the Cowboys have a great season. You don't need any more darkness in your life.

Signed,
a concerned Forum Brutha
