Draft him.........any top ten prospect you could get late round one is a steal

If he would be out five months, you are basically entering another Demarcus Lawrence situation where his rookie season would be a wash. I would not take a player in the first that would miss all of camp and most of the preseason.

We need someone this year. Romo is not getting younger. Awfully tempting though

Bruce Carter part deux?

With Eberblus being a Mizzou alum, you gotta think we'll have all the information we need on whether to take him or not if he falls to 27.

Zierlein had a lot of hot takes this morning on the radio. I'll sum it up...

- Shane Ray likely needs surgery for his turf toe, which is a 5-month recovery. At minimum lands him on PUP, at maximum IR.
- Randy Gregory's "knucklehead" personality has teams scared. Likely will fall.
- One executive said it's more likely that both Ray & Gregory fall out of the 1st then both of them being taken in the 1st.
- Kevin Johnson will go top 20.
- Todd Gurley will go top 12.
- Marcus Peters is a R1 lock. Teams generally seem comfortable with his character & surprisingly aren't knocking him much for it.

Lot of interesting points here. Can't say I'm overly shocked by anything, but interesting nonetheless.

I'd take Ray. Build thru the draft. Can't just be worried about this year.

This. Also probably explains poor work outs prior to draft. If you believe in him and could get him top of the second, even better.

It would be tempting but I don't think we can afford to take a DE that won't help us while we are without Hardy. He might be a guy that isn't as effective as a pro right off the bat because for the most part he is all speed rusher at this point, he has to develop his technique and pass rush moves. Could be a beast in 2-3 years.

Most rookie DEs don't kill it production wise their rookie year, anyways.

If the scouts think he has the ability to be a good pressure player, I have no problems drafting him in round one.

I would if I thought he was an elite player who just was not healthy. I am not sure he even in the top three rushers in this class.

How did the draft media not know this already. It is not a new injury from what I gather.

He is very borderline size wise to be a DE.

It would be bad if Ray and Gregory drop out of the 1st because that is two other players that will go before he Cowboys pick.

03/22/15 - Five Takeaways from this week's Pro Day workouts: 1. Shane Ray falling behind Fowler, Beasley? The most anticipated workout of the week was Missouri's since projected top-15 pick Shane Ray -- the SEC's reigning Defensive Player of the Year - had been unable to work out at the combine due to a lingering foot injury. Unfortunately, Ray did not perform as well in measured drills as similarly-built pass rusher Vic Beasley and with only one season as a starter, he's not as far along in his technique as Florida's Dante Fowler. Though a scout who attended the workout cautioned not to put too much emphasis on Ray's somewhat disappointing 4.55-4.63 times in the 40-yard dash, 33" vertical jump and 10' broad jump at 6-foot-3, 249 pounds, scouts have since told me that the relatively thin lower body Ray showed is a concern.

"The tape proves that he's a legitimate pass rusher," one high-ranking scout said. "But, he has narrow hips and thin legs so he's likely to struggle to add much weight and retain the quickness that he used so effectively off the edge. I don't know that he's a defensive end at our level. He looked stiff during the linebacker drills too." "I'm not saying that he's not a first round pick, but he wasn't as impressive on the hoof as Beasley and isn't as polished as Fowler so I have a hard time seeing him go earlier than either of them." - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

Yes, it would be a mistake to force a pick at DE just because Hardy might be suspended. The probability of getting significant production from a rookie DE is probably not much better than the probability of getting something from a guy like Gardner that is already on the roster.

He only needs to be better than Selvie to be valuable.

if we get significant contributions from Terrell McClain and Gardner it would benefit us alot. for some reason i dont know why Selvie dropped off so much last year.

I would rather both Gregory and Ray go in the first as was expected prior to all of this stuff. If they do not than that means other players will be taken before we get to pick and some of those Other players that are taken we might have liked to have drafted.

Hope we have Gregory off our board...dude is a moron and a failed drug test waiting to happen.

Ray...maybe you role the dice on him if you think he will be healthy.

If Gregory, Ray, Peters and DGB are all available at 27, what do you guys do? Who's red flag is the least offensive? Gamble and try to trade down and try to pick one of them up in the 2nd? Or pass on them all together.
