Shango Nailed It

Wrong opinion really guy who do you think you are? Huh? Anyways you need to watch the game again if you think the defense had no help in winning this game. You must also rather have the defense give up 150 yards but lose the game. What a joke you are

1) Where did I say the defense had no help in winning the game? Please point that out for me.
2) Where did I say I'd rather have the defense give up 150 yards and lose the game? Please point that out for me as well.

smh

Its in the way you talk. I said I don't care about yards giving up I care about winning and you said i'm entitled to my wrong opinion so I don't need to point anything out read what you write first oh great and mighty that only your opinion is right and ever body else is wrong

What part about the ;) didn't you understand?

At any rate, let's agree to disagree peacefully and you can just chalk it up as a loss.

;)

I hope our secondary plays better next week and I think they will. Overall I think the defense looked very dominant. It was nice to see the Boys being the bully. Bruce Cater was outstanding and Nick Hayden impressed the heck out of me but there is definitely some concern with the secondary. Hopefully after a few games in they adjust to the new scheme

Yea not really worried to much. A few busted assignments is what caused that. 80 yard td passes well eat it up plus going prevent defense will eat up yards. Its a new scheme things happen plus its a division foe that always gets chunks of yards on us. Not worried unless the next 2 to 3 games we give up 450 yard passing, then we worry

A few busted coverages is a concern because we saw the same thing with the last defensive scheme. We're continuing to see players not knowing where to be and it's leaving receivers wide open. You may not be worried now but if bus driver Alex Smith puts up 300+ tomorrow with 3 TD's we'll see how you feel then. Giving up yards is one thing but when they're leading to TD's that's another. Yards don't beat you points do.

I see what you did there lol. Anyways we are fans and want perfection from our team. I can't stand that we haven't been able to raise up and dominate like we should. Here is to hoping we have changed and continue this win streak. To you sir a great season

Agreed. It's great that we won and they fought hard. To simply be blind about the fact that so much yardage was given up is foolish. A win is a win and we'll take it - that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

Nice post.

At this point not a concern, like I said earlier the next 2 to 3 games the same thing happens then yes time to worry. First game not so much. Also we gave then the last touch down, and one was shown to be incomplete. That's 2 giving up, one on a busted coverage. I thought as a whole and being the first game defense played very well and was a man part of why we won.

Don't get my wrong there is room for improvement, just not worried about it. Bend but don't break so there will be yards giving up but when they had 1st and goal with an inch to go we made a stand and that shows me more then a 80 yard bomb on a busted coverage

One touch down was reviewed and was not a touch down. Another one was in prevent garbage time. So eli really has 2 touch downs and from what I seen we dominated that game. Points don't tell the whole story.

When a team is being buried with only a few minutes to play that's what's referred to as "prevent garbage time." The Cowboys were trying to hang on they weren't just sitting back allowing the Giants to move the football at will and score. They're dangerous team that's pulled the rug out from under the Cowboys in the final minutes before. Winning by 5 points is far from dominating a game the Cowboys had to hang on and needed their 6th takeaway to save it. The Giants out gained the Cowboys by 147 yards and had only one fewer first down. I'm just thankful the Cowboys escaped with a win.

I respectfully disagree. I think the Gnats and Chefs are two teams moving in different directions right now. Chefs win.

I think that the giants are the better team (when compared to KC) based on each team's first game including their opponent...KC played against a hapless Jax squad who is playing for the #1 pick in the draft next year already...with the exception of the turnovers, the giants were the better team last sunday and they played a quality opponent...yes, the turnovers matter, but the giants were in the game with a minute to go despite giving up the ball 6 times...KC's game was like Alabama having a tune up game against a 1-AA team

We were up multiple scores and that last touch down was a gimmie. I will agree it's a win and we should be happy but we dominated that game. Passing yards not so much but as a while we dominated

Why would the Cowboys give the Giants their last TD when it moved NY within 5 points which gave them an opportunity to recover an onside kick and to possibly win the game with a Hail Mary? We were all left biting our nails at the end of that game. The Cowboys have a tough time putting teams away which cost them dearly vs the Giants in week 14 of the 2011 season. I wouldn't be concerned either if what we saw last week was just one of those games where the defense gave up some yards and TD's it happens it's the NFL but we've been seeing this same trend from the defense for a few seasons now. Last season Ryan had to simplify the defense because of all the confusion and busted coverages and we still got shredded by Brees in week 16. When you continue to see the same issue year after year it's a concern especially when you look at the QB's and receivers the Cowboys will be facing this season.

The Cowboys have to face Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson in Detroit. That's a very productive combo that ate the defense up in the 4th quarter in 2011 which helped the Lions overcome a 24 point deficit. The following week the defense couldn't stop Brady and company from driving the field and scoring in the final minutes. The Cowboys have to face Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall in Chicago in Dec. That combo ate the Cowboys defense up last season in week 4. The Cowboys have had no answers on how to stop Marshall who killed them last season and in 09 when he was in Denver. The last 2 games Marshall has faced the Cowboys defense he's put up 11 catches for 229 yards and 2 TD's. The Cowboys have to face Brees in NO who put up 440 yards and 4 TD's last season on the Cowboys defense. Tomorrow vs Alex Smith will go a long way into telling us where this defense is. The ledge jumpers will be out in full force immediately after the game tomorrow if the Cowboys lose and Smith who's only had three career 300 yard passing games puts up 320 yards and 3-4 TD's.

Defense can't be letting folks march down the field with HUGE PASSING plays. If they want to grind it out, that's different. But these huge plays they're giving up isn't going to fly. Good news, we have time to get it figured out.

We were up multiple scores but the Giants got back in the game and had a chance in the end. The Cowboys know after being up by multiple scores vs the Giants in week 14 of the 2011 season that you can't let them off the mat. You're kidding yourself if you think the Cowboys allowed them to score to pull within 5 points giving them an opportunity at recovering an onside kick and having a Hail Mary attempt with Cruz and Nicks on the outside who combined for 10 catches for 232 yards and 3 TD's. Cruz has been a Cowboy killer the past couple of seasons the last thing you want is Eli tossing up a prayer to him with the game he was having. Thank goodness it didn't come down to that...whew!

I don't care about rankings. The Cowboys defense could be ranked 33rd out of 32 teams as long as the L column is 0, I'm happy.

But, as far as the Chefs (old TV commercial) go, Andy Reid might be Coach of the Year this year. He inherited some good players and added a QB. Parity being what it is, and Reid being a good coach, this team could make a quick turnaround from their 2-14 last year. One game into the season, AFC West looks tough for a change.

But, Cowboys 31-27, as the defense continues to watch opposing quarterbacks and receivers play pitch and catch, they go into week three as the last ranked defense in the league. 2-0 is better than 1-1 regardless of rankings.

You can come up with any reason you want as to why we won the game. The defensive stats tell another truth. Shouldn't be ignored.

I'd give more credence to the defensive standings if the Cowboys weren't playing soft coverage and keeping everything in front of them to try and preserve a lead. The philosophy almost failed them, but a boatload of that yardage came while New York was furiously tossing the rock around and trying to mount a come back.

I'm not concerned about a bunch of empty yardage stats. Not to mention the fact that it's been clearly noted that one of the TDs to Cruz should have never been able to stand. It is what it is, but I'm not quivering in fear of a statistic based on one game in which the opposing team HAD to fling the rock to try and get back into a game that they were clearly getting dominated against by the very same defense that people seem to now be concerned about.

The Chiefs had a solid game against, possibly, the worst team in the entire NFL who's QB was injured during the game and their top WR was suspended. I'm not overlooking the Chiefs but they aren't world beaters because they found a way to beat up on the NFL equivalent of an NCAA DIVII football team who was missing one of it's only two legitimate offensive weapons and a defense that doesn't exist.
