Shannon Sharpe Calling Out Moose and Aikman...

Listening to Mike & Mike In The Morning, they stated that Shannon Sharp called Troy and Moose hypocrites for criticizing the signing of Tank Johnson.

Sharp pointed out that they played with players of questionable character during the 90's (during the "White House" era) and they never said anything. Sharp wanted to know why they are saying anything about character issues now that Tank was signed.

My thought is...they are doing their job now by expressing their opinions as analysts . Back then they were being teammates, not rocking the boat while they were in the middle of championship seasons.

Thoughts?

I agree. I don't know what Troy or Moose feeling were about guys getting in trouble on the 90's team but if I had to guess I would say both were upset with the action of some teammates but airing the dirty laundry to the press only makes matter worse. As analyst I think they are expressing the feeling they have and do so without any worry of creating a division in the locker room since they are no longer playing.

Shannon Sharpe said yesterday he wouldnt pick the Dallas cowboys to win again this year until Roy Williams was on the bench where he belongs.

So that pretty much sums up Shannon "Marble Mouth" Sharpe.

He should have a talking duel with the manning bros. It would be like listening to 3 people speak a different language.

Big difference between being a player in the lockerroom and being an analyst outside of it. No one knows what Moose or Aikman may have said behind closed doors, but it was important to keep a cohesive unit as a teammate, especially when it came to talking with the Press. Strange that Sharpe forgot that so soon.

Back then our idiots were already ours, we didn't go out and sign someone else's. I think that's the difference. Before someone mentions Haley, I don't believe he was a convict before we got him. The funny thing is, I see no reason to have Tank, I thought we'd be fine without him.

He's got a platform, and something to talk about. He's entitled to his opinion.

I can not help but admit I thought the same thing.

I love both Moose and Troy but they stood by hard-working teammates with far less than stellar off-field credentials.

I like how Jimmy brought up Haley on the grumpy old coaches segment.

Haley was a nut. Literally. Thats part of what made him so great.

Every team in this league wants value. They want to sign guys at low values and to low contracts. It will be virtually impossible for Tank to not earn his contract. His salary is so low and his play so good that one good game is worth the minimum salary he has signed for. He will be cut for any nonsense and e knows it. Or he'll be suspended again without pay.

Chances are very, very high this is a boon for Dallas.

Again, you take chances on guys with minimum contracts who are proven free agents, not on draft picks or high priced guys.

I agree. As for Tank he is on the team now and I just hope he has learned his lesson and is ready to move on and put his past behind him. If not then he will be out of here pretty quick.

I think Troy and Moose just meant that it was a risky signing considering all the iron fisted decisions by Roger Baddell.

It is hypocritical of Moose and Troy to criticize the signing, especially Troy and his history of supporting Michael.

Nobody is a bigger fan of those guys than I am, and nobody is more grateful for what they accomplished, but the last thing anybody from those teams should do is bring in morality into what it's no more than a football decision.

It's fine for them to criticize it in a football context, as in Tank is not good for the team because of this reason or that reason, but don't play the morality card. Nobody should do it, much less them.

As players standing up and saying something about a teammate would have done nothing but to take a bad situation and make it worse so as players it is better to keep your mouth shut than it is to make statements to the media. There are many players in this league who have not learned this. As members of the media now both Moose and Troy are able to state opinions without causing a division because they are FORMER players and teammates with no one.

You're right...Sharp is entitled to his opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion (including Moose and Troy).

Shannon Sharp reminds me of Steven A. Smith...a loud mouth that you can't help but watch because they are so animated in their views and so ignorant in their beliefs (my opinion).

But as far as doing their jobs...keeping viewers entertained...they are pretty good at it.

They should be called out on it. I mean the man paid his price to society and he is paying the price to the NFL. When he is done, why should he be penalized. I mean, its not like he shot someone or the guns were completly illegal, they were registered just not in Ill.

Haley was send packing out of San Fran because he threatened Steve Young and multiple asst coaches with death.

Here in Dallas he was considered completely wacky. He once put his head through the wall.

He also was the guy who stood on a teammates' hood and urinated.

Tank has been called a good locker room guy who would have gotten convicted for nothing more than resisting arrest had be been in his home state.

I agree with Sharpe. I thought the same thing... "White house", Erik Williams' stupidness and God knows what Tuinei was up to.
