Shazier ran a 4.37 unofficial at his pro day. Out that with his play and combine this guy could be a perfect WOLB for us.

I like Shazier and think he can fain a few more pounds. I could see us drafting him in a trade back.

There was already a thread for this? But, that time is amazing, even if there was home cooking involved (if)

I think for where he will be drafted there will be better fits for the cowboys.

Too early to draft him at 16 and will not be there for us in the 2nd round.

He'd definitely be a great option in a trade back scenario which could bring us an extra late second or early 3rd rd pick. This guy has great instincts, versatile, and can FLY! .. He'd be great to go with Carter/Lee and also can play either of their positions if one goes down. With 2 second rd picks we can still add good Dlinemen. Possibly Crichton/Sutton .. Murphy/Tuittt or just Crichton in the second and two DT's in the 3rd like Easley/Kecly Quarles ..

Right I was looking at that last night. I would like to see Dallas trade back two times or even out of the 1st, which I know I will get killed for saying that.
But after Donald I don't see another player in this draft that will make an instant impact. This draft is deep in alot of positions but not many blue chippers. Not much of a difference between the late 1st and early 3rd IMO.

Trade back 2 or 3 times. Just keep going back in to late 1st or real early 2nd and add a few 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths.
We could get 2 DEs (Critchon and Martin) 2 DTs(Sutton, Easley, Quarles, Tuitt) also still be able to get a starting OG and RT early for Free replacement next year and get a WOLB like Tripp for depth and competetion. Thats a better draft than taking one player in the 1st thats not dynamic.

I also believe Quarles and Tuitt could play the SDE spot in this scheme. Both are 5 tech strong run defenders. Also think Tuitt could be a perfect 1 tech DT for Marinelli. Easley scares me with his injury history. Never played a complete season.

Crithon on the weak side
Martin on the strong side
Sutton or Quarles at the 3
Tuitt or Jones at the 1
Tripp at WOLB
Brandon Thomas at LG
Billy Turner being the swing OT getting ready to replace Free

Shazier would be a great fit on Marinelli's D but his 4.3 40 will shoot him up into the mid first from bottom first - top second. Telvin Smith is faster and could be an option at SS too. Smith reminds me of Darren Woodson and can still be had in the 2nd, or even 3rd, due to his size (6'3 220).

4.37 is ABSOLUTELY sick for a LB, Shazier was already a legit Candidate @16...he may go sooner.

Telvin Smith 4.52 and 19 lbs lighter.

No to Shazier at #16 and no to Telvin Smith in the 2nd.

LOL. I guess that's that then. Shazier ran 4.3 at his pro day, but he and Smith had similar 4.5 40s at the combine. And weight is a non issue in 4-3, NFL weight program and for a guy with Smiths 6-3 frame. Smith is better value in 3rd but I would still draft in 2nd, after a small trade down perhaps. Another OLB option is Kevin Pierre Louis in the 5th round. He is short but flies around the field, loves contact and is more consistent tackler than either Shazier or Smith. You should like him, other than height he has impressive measurables. Love his consistency & production myself.
