Shemar James and Kenneth Murray

Yes, this thread is simply incorrect, these two players should not be included in the same thread w/ the same thought.

James is a speed merchant w/ great upside. I mean, this dude can fly. And it's possible Wilson can get him straightened out.

Anyone who can’t see this is a 5th round choice well worth moving up for ….

i frankly dont have a problem with drafting an atheltic LB late in the draft.

That's a project pleasant surprise hit & miss like a Bland.

But i don't want to trust the late round draftees as the more better investment guys.

The earlier invvestees are like Overshown, who duranility issues aside could be quite a find.

So Eberflus was sold as a linebacker whisperer. Murray was a former top 10 pick who has elite physical traits…..both stink.
what is confusing is Eberflus had a rep as a successful DC in Indy, ..but he's been a horrible disaster in Dallas.

What player personnel was the big difference between Indy vs Dallas ..?

James probably would have been picked higher. But injuries made him drop. Not that he was injured when drafted, but lack of playing time in college dropped his draft position.

I think he can be better, once the front 4 plays better.

It might simply be the times. That was some time ago. His Bears defenses weren’t nearly as good. But for sure Colts had Shaq Leonard….Zaire Franklin but he wasn’t the Zaire we know now he was a pup. Tough to say. On paper they weren’t like Doomsday. Solid guys. No clear liabilities though.

It's all about perspective .. if the Cowboys release Murray, the overall team improves, so he does provide the potential for upside ... :D
He would be good depth. Not going to find anyone off the couch any better right now.

I do not think they are afraid to cut people anymore.

Cut TO
Cut Dez
Cut Zeke
basically cut Mazi in that trade
Cut Fatman Boss

This roster is full of rookies and players with 4 or less years.
That means you cut and get rid of a lot of players.
Not really related, but the name got me going. Players say some ridiculous things at times, but when fat man’s boss or whatever actually said something along the lines of his NFL money is going to fund his rap career…..I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t.

Who exactly interviews the guys they are considering drafting? No one is perfect but that’s a different level.

Yikes these two have been terrible in PFF eyes.

Shemar James Overall Grade is 35.5 which is the 2nd worst linebacker in the league. 82 our of 83 linebackers. YUCK. He is still young and was a late round draft pick so lets hope he can turn it around.

Kenneth Murray Overall Grade is 40, which is 78th our of 83 qualifying linebackers.

As much as we called Jack Sanborn slow and etc, he is/was our best linebacker. He had an overall grade of 56.3 and was rated 56th our of 83 linebackers.

Yes none of them have been anything near good. Is it the coaching? Our linebacker play has been laughable, well technically our whole defensive play has been laughable but the linebacker play has been super duper bad.
That's why I was trying to point out the football IQ think in the last Wilson post. He doesn't need to be Bobby Wagner 2.0, he just needs to be average or better to upgrade our front 7 - BIGTIME.

Murray has no upside to offer.

James does. Part of his issues coming out of the draft was that he was very young and had a lot to learn. However he had very good athletic ability and had flashes. I think he can turn into something.

He has showed flashes with the Cowboys as well. He just needs to learn. I have a feeling they did not want him playing much his first year but the injuries and bad play from some of the LBs forced them to start him earlier than they wanted and before he was ready.

I think he has an upside for this team, even if it winds up being a rotational player.
I agree. James I have seen enough to make me think he can be a valuable member of the off ball linebacker rotation.

Murray is a progress stopper and never should have been acquired. This is what he has been his entire career.

James is a rookie 5th rounder. What's Murray's excuse?

All of them.

Anyone who thought Murray would be even viable does not pay attention to the NFL, and certainly does not read scouting reports.

To put it bluntly, James was not a good NFL prospect. Marginal size/speed combo and low production.

The bull case was that he is really young, and his movement is good enough. So if you give him a year or two to grow, physically and football IQ, he might have starter potential. But the 5th round was considered aggressive for him. and no one graded him as a year 1 NFL starter. He really needed to spend another season at Florida.

Murray is a sixth year starter who should have been playing in Canada at least two seasons ago. He has been the worst LB in the league for several seasons, and yet his first round pedigree just keeps getting him more starting reps. If he was drafted in the fifth round like James, he would not have made it through his rookie contract.

Murray should not be allowed into the stadium, I have never seen a more lost LB for the past 5 years, he has been this bad his whole time in the league.
I haven’t hated a player as much as I hate Murray since Alan Ball.

Don't think so.

The run D gave up about 3.8 ypc when he was on the field. Then 6.5 when he was off. This may have improved slightly after the AZ game, but I'm not sure.

The pass D was terrible regardless of the LBs, but the run D wasn't just open gates earlier in the season like it has been as of late.
Yup.

Sanborn makes a lot of tackles.

AllConf at Wisconsin.

He’s a gifted LB.

Runs a 4.5 40.

AllConf NCAA.

Makes a lot of tackles.

Missed some games with injuries.

He’s playing for a DC who calls off man Cover every play.

All of the D stats are in the tank.

Murray’s stats are good.

His pro football ref AV ratings are good.

Runs a 4.5 40. Makes tons of tackles.

Honestly, there are worse players on the team.
