Shemar James and Kenneth Murray

Sanborn was by far our worst linebacker. Pff doesn’t always get it right.
While you are right that PFF doesn’t always get it right you are absolutely wrong with your comment. Sanborn is the only one of the 3 with any instincts, who ever seems to know what his responsibility is and who doesn’t take himself out of half of the plays by running the wrong way or shooting the wrong gap. Plus he doesn’t get stuck to blocks all the time lock he is glued to the them. The other two have just been horrendous at times. At least James offsets the bad by making some splash plays because he just runs to the ball full speed, so sometimes he blows up the play. Murray just flat out stinks and brings no value. Is Sanborn good? Heck No. Has he played better than the other two this year? Absolutely.

Murray’s stats are good.

His pro football ref AV ratings are good.

Runs a 4.5 40. Makes tons of tackles.

Honestly, there are worse players on the team.
Murray will be inactive in a week or two and may not get another decent contract in the NFL if he does it will be for Vet minimum. We will be the third team kicking him to the street and all 3 teams could not wait to get rid of him.

He makes a lot of tackles 10 yards down the field, can not find the gap with a map. Great athlete horrible football IQ. He is rated 78 out of 83 by PFF grade.

The gigantic holes you see RB's running through is where Murray is supposed to be.

One of the Cowboys biggest mistakes was letting Dowdle get away.

Shoot, though, I could see he could run between the tackles. But I figured he just want going to score much.

Javonte and Dowdle would be a lethal combo.

I admit. I always liked Dowdle way back. Knew he could prolly be good. But not this good. So I was happy to see him arrive and not that sad to see him go.

I was just kinda wrong on him not being kinda special. He's come a long way.
We can call it a bad move, but in theory we traded Dowdle for Williams....and it has worked out pretty well. And Rico is actually two years older than Williams. They are both going to be free agents that will be in line for raises next year.

Yeah I must’ve saw something different. I’d watch Sanborn….i saw nothing of what people said about him. I didn’t see his instincts. I didn’t see him feeling gaps. I saw him gettting severely overmatched every chance he got. Murray is bad too. But every once in an awhile he will remind you of his physical skill. Shemar just a rookie and eventually will get better.

Shemar is the only one of the 3 with a chance to be a player for sure. To me with a first year guy and a later pick in particular, you kind of ignore the warts and look for flashes of potential and he has shown some and that could be a harbinger of what he might grow into. On a "normal" team there is no way he would have even seen the field so early. He just wasn't ready yet.

Agree.

Sanborn is a typical backup type, he is very smart and knows what to do, just doesn't possess the athleticism to do it.

Sanborn = Jeff Heath.

Yup, he should've been a ST demon this year w/ maybe a cup of coffee at LB.

Why is he starting? Too many injury prone players, too many mid round picks traded for subpar players, and poor drafting in general.

I’ve never seen a NFL linebacker as bad as Murray. Who ever suggested the Cowboys trade for him should be fired as well.
No accountability in the scouting department. They should have revamped the entire scouting department after the 2023 draft.
