With the logic that some posters use on this board, shouldn't we be praying Ray leaves considering it is his fault that the receivers production has fallen off and it is Ray's fault that TO, Williams(11), and Crayton stop on their routes. According to certain poster's logic, the players cannot be responsible for their poor play, only the coaches (specifically the position coaches) are the reason for the Cowboy's collapse this season

Becareful if you disagree with this way of thinking, your intelligence will be questioned and degraded:laugh2:

You actually make a good point my friend.

If Sherman is such a great WR coach, then we did our WRs look totally lost on the field?

Why were our WRs running wrong or poor routes, why were they stopping on routes, why were they not fighting for the ball, why were they basically going half-arse most of the game?

Doesnt some (or maybe most) of the responsibility fall to the position coach. Afterall, isnt a postion coach responsible for ther performance of his group???

Isnt that the reason Bruce Read was fired, the poor perfromance of his group (special teams)???

Why does Sherman get a pass for his WRs going half-arse most games???

I question frankly just how many GOOD coaches we actually have.
I think Dat is pretty good but certainly cannot know for sure. Campo seems to be a good secondary coach. Our RB coach seems to be the star frankly, though our TE coach seems pretty good as well. Outside of that?

Even though I was being just a little sarcastic in my post, I totally agree that NO ONE on the coaching staff should receive a pass on the mess that occured this season.
I always lean toward the player being responsible for their performance, but the coaching staff MUST prepare the players for the games. The staff failed miserably in this department. The Cowboys this season seemed to be a group of players without direction. I know that several in here are questioning the leadership of Romo. As for me, I question the leadership of the coaching staff starting with Wade.

The way history has it,only white coaches get Head Jobs in the NFL without being oc or dc's.So if I was those guys I would think twice about being a dummy for the owners.

I wonder why it has only been the Steelers who have followed the "Rooney" Rule.

The rule is to interview. The Rooney Rule has no provisions regarding hiring.

Umm, the way history has had it, there have been relatively few non-white coaches, so if an African American coach hasn't jumped from DB or QB or ST coach to HC it is more likely because so few coaches do so, and so few AAs are coaches.

Also, interviewing for a HC position can give these guys a nice push, either for a coordinator position, or for future HC jobs. So you'd really be a dummy not to interview. I expect that only the most worthless owners in the league approach these interviews with completely closed minds (or, alternatively bring in an Art Shell or Dennis Green for the interview instead of an assistant coach).

I'll tell you one guy who deserves a Head Coaching shot, not just Rooney Rule interviews...Emmitt Thomas, the Falcons DC.

Great man.

Thomas is a pretty good example of why this rule can be effective for the new generation of coaches. Thomas has coached for over 25 years in the league yet he hasn't received serious consideration as a HC. Now, of course, he'd been seen as a bit too old to bring in for that role.
