If you’re under the impression Jerry Jones hears nothing but the steam turbines of his ego at full tilt, you should know he listens a lot. It’s when he stops listening and does something that problems generally start.
Jerry has a tendency — like Tom Hicks did in his years with the Rangers and Stars — to go with the last person he hears. Even when it works out, it’s not exactly a sound business model.
What it usually means is more reversals of field than an entire season of Johnny Football.
All any Cowboys fan can hope for outside a coup is that Jerry listens to someone in-house who knows what he’s talking about.
Good news: Rod Marinelli appears to be growing in influence.

Based on players liking to play for him? At least Switzer won championships and was a proven winner...at the collegiate level...Rod couldn't even keep Melton in house. Now the fanbase be a melton down...

If it takes away ANY influence that Larry Lacewell has on Jerry Jones, we should all be doing back flips.

That will not happen for me unless I read that his office at Valley Ranch is boarded shut and Jerry Jones gave away his VIP parking space.

I guess Rod can throw em back...seems the real way to fetch JJ's ear (drinking buddy).

Let's hope that happens when Jerry and crew move the offices in a year or two. Let's hope Lacewell continues to go to the old parking lot and wanders around the old building. Heck for that matter let't hope Jerry meets him there daily and does the same.

I Hope...I Hope.

Marinelli is just the flavor of the moment. Jones was charmed so much by Rob Ryan he was willing to break the bank for Asomugha and then went out and got him not only Carr but mortgaged two draft choices for Claiborne. A year later he was fired.

Rob does have the gut to hang...maybe JJ didn't get his drunken AM apology one morning and bam!

He's old enough that he might not know the difference.

That's how I would have dealt with Kiffin. No need to fire him. Just stick him up in someone's attic window and put one of those electric football games out on the street. Let him enjoy his last few weeks.
