No one thought of it because it won't happen. For starters, Mariotta played well before he got hurt. Second, you lose a year of development. Third, as a GM you can survive Mariotta turning into a bust, you need to seriously hit on most of your other draft picks, but you can survive that. You can not survive trading Mariotta and Wentz/Goff being a bust, even if it's due to injury.

What if the Packers get into the mix and move Rodgers in a three day deal?

Anybody thought of that?

too bad we traded our 7th rounder for Geoff Swaim...could have been enough to pry Rogers from Green Bay...should have listened...we should have listened

A shocking trade scenerio on draft day that would shock most fans. Most people would suggest there's no chance but think about it. If I was involved in the decision process for the Tennessee Titans I would wave this around.

1) For the 1st pick in the 2016 NFL draft the Tennessee Titans select insert QB. My pick would be Wentz.
2) Tennessee trades Mariota to the SF 49'ers for their: a) 2016 first round pick, 2016 second round pick and 2017 first round pick.
(You can pick your poison here of what you believe is a fair trade value) 3) Clevend then picks Goff (again pick your poison of a QB)
4) Who does Dallas pick now. I would not think it would be a QB. If Titans call the 49ers I would think Chip Kelly would jump on this like fly on chit. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

There may be a reason no one has thought about it

This thread would break the unlike record if there was such a thing.

Oh, snap! Like the rest of us are soooooooo perfect.
Well, blokes, I am here to tell you that we are not. A doff of my hat to a well-meaning post, such as it is.

Easier scenario to grasp would be someone trading up to TEN @ 1 for a QB (SF). CLE takes the other QB @ 2. I get the theme "what if there aren't QBs to select from"?. I would take Ramsey as a Safety initially (unless he proves to be a better CB than believed) and trade back into the late 1st for Lynch (if value fits).

I haven't been this shocked since the first day, right after Y2K.

It won't happen but the NFL has been strange the last two years with trades.

But in all seriousness, I love that whoa moment nearly every draft has. It completely changes the script you thought everyone would follow.

The titans have a new coach know and might want to run a different offense that fits one of this years QB's. So if they made this trade they would lose only one year of development from Mariotta. Let say they see something in one of this years QB that leads them to believe that QB is a better fit than Mariotta. Along with this they load up on a ton of additional picks including next years first of the 49ers. I can see it happening if any of this holds true.

This is not shocking at all. I brought up in another thread when two sports radio hosts were discussing it this week on a San Fran sports radio show. Kelly would have to convince Baalke to do the trade for Mariota and they would have to trade Kap.

Almost certainly this trade will be announced at the podium during the draft.
