I understand that the remaining cap space for 2013 is nil but Cowboys (that means you Jerry) need a sense of urgency.

Jerry and Stephen can manipulate cap space to pay players only for the remainder of the season without rolling it in to the cap tragedy of 2014.

Instead of 6 Edgar Jones types, why not one Richard Seymour, Ed Reed or Brian Urlacher? Instead of Darrion Weems, why not a Lance Louis, Brandon Keith or better yet, Brandon Moore. Cowboys do not need another OT right now, they need to shore up the middle of the trenches (OG & DT) as well thru the entire D (DT, MLB and Safety).

One vet who is familiar with the system on either side of the ball may be all that is needed to bring some stability and confidence back to this team. There are only 6 games left in the regular season, but that is still enough time to win the division and be competitive in the post season, with the right additions. I am talking about key guys who are proven and can provide immediate impact, not a revolving door of the next Selvie cross your fingers and hope to God. I am talking about a half season rental.

I love Selvie and a good bottom of the roster churn, but Cowboys will not hit on multiple immediate impact "no name" guys with only 6 games to go.

It's certainly an interesting scenario... I feel like the past few years we get hit with the injury bug hard. Harder, than most teams. We end up signing the rejects from other teams and end up falling short of expectations by the time the year is over. I understand we have some big cap concerns looming (possibly), but there are some big name guys out there that could be a big help to our team NOW. Not next year......this year. Obviously this isn't madden and we can't sign big name after big name, but its almost like we keep on waiting for the next year to do something big. This core isn't getting younger at this point, and they aren't getting better either.

We do need a run stopper in the middle and/or we need to shoot and hold. We have no gap control and the LBers cannot beat the blocks and/or fill the hole esp with Lee gone.

You cant just run out and sign quality guys to help your team as if your going down an aisle at Costco filling a cart. Those "quality" guys are on the street for a reason. Besides, they would need to be in football shape to help out.

Sammy Morris came off his couch in DECEMBER 2011 to play for the Cowboys and he played well. And Morris was never the impact player that Seymour, Reed, Urlacher or even Brandon Moore. All of these guys do have one thing in common, they all played last season and played well. So did Waters and he was TWO seasons removed.

As for football shape, that what a work out is supposed to determine. Are you even against a work out??

The interior part of the line on both sides are where the games are won and loss.

I see this season as a total loss. It's pretty clear, with all the injuries, we just don't have the talent to beat anybody good. No one player or 2 players are going to put us over the top. I'd rather take whatever cap space we have leftover and roll it over to next season.

You are seriously giving up? There are a lot of obstacles of course, but the division is still up for grabs. And next year's cap will be a disaster and not something to look forward to. The time to roll the dice is NOW, or wait until 2015.

Did you see the defense we trotted out there Sunday night? Not gonna beat many teams playing like that.

Not giving up. But if I had to make a prediction, I'd say 7-9 and lose the division. If by some miracle we make the playoffs, I think we're one and done. I don't think one or two players can change that.

I guess it won't hurt to try.

Im not giving it a total loss because the East is so God Awful that we can still win it by just winning our division games the rest of the way.

Why, exactly?

Why have I not given up? If you have to ask, then I am not sure I can explain it to your satisfaction but people when faced with crisis either run or fight. I prefer to fight.

Yeah, I am sure you fight really really hard in front of your television.

There is no reason to incur more cap damage over the guys available out there.

We simply are not a top tier team. We are playing with guys off the street, while other teams have all-pros. It's not gonna be solved this late in the game. We're screwed.
