Isn't he STILL the only defensive player to win a Super Bowl MVP? I'm asking because I do not recall who has won the MVP in the last five or six Super Bowls.

Yep. Howley should have been in the Hall decades ago.

Yes, he is the only person to ever be named SB MVP for a losing team. There have been multiple defensive winners including last year's winner from Seattle.

Super Bowl MVPs by position
Position Total
Quarterback 26
Running back 7
Wide receiver 6
Linebacker 3
Defensive end 2
Safety 2
Cornerback 1
Defensive tackle 1
Kick returner/punt returner 1

Dallas has the most SB MVP's at 7 with Randy White and Harvey Martin the Co-MVPs in 77.

I caught Howley nearing the end if his career. Comparing his stats with Dave Robinson Howley had 2 fewer career int's than Robinson and one more career TD. Robinson had 50 more career return yards than Howley. Statistically it's very close between the two so what really separates the players are the teams they played for at the time.

Robinson got the nod over Howley for the HOF in 2013 due to playing for the better teams. Robinson was part of the Packers 1960's dynasty that included 2 championship game wins over the Cowboys one being the historic Ice Bowl. When a player is part of a dynasty they're going to reap the benefits we've seen that with the 70's Steelers and the 90's Cowboys.

Trying to figure out what word half 3 letters.
fortunately, the NFL half recognized that playing his *** off with heart is no substitute for playing his *** off with speed, strength and talent.

Beyond Howley the real head scratcher is . . . Martin who is not in?
THAT is a travesty.

Had it not been for those 2 SB losses to the Steelers I'm sure there would be. There's a few Steelers that wouldn't have been inducted had it not been for those SB wins.

This is very likely to be one of the reasons besides Cowboys' bias.

And on the 8th day, our father made the Cowboys in his image.
Stop it, you big lug, you make me shed a tear of gratatude.

Yes and there are a few more from those 70's teams that should be also.

Other than Howley there's only Lee Roy Jordan and Drew Pearson from the 70's that have a case for the Hall of Fame. All 3 players are in the Cowboys ROH which is a must to have any shot at the HOF. If a player isn't in their own teams HOF the HOF voters will take note of that and move on from them. Had the old regime of Landry and Shramm added Pearson to the ROH years ago it may have helped his chances of being inducted into the HOF. He was arguably the most clutch receiver of the 70's who played a huge part in the success that Roger Staubach had but he was outperformed head to head vs Swann and Stallworth in 2 SB's.

Pearson got overshadowed by the postseason success of Swann and Stallworth especially against the Cowboys in their 2 SB losses to the Steelers. Swann may have had the weakest regular season stats of any HOF WR but his postseason success that included a SB MVP in SB X and 4 SB rings got him voted in ahead of Stallworth who had much better career regular season numbers.

I don't believe there's any Cowboy bias amongst the HOF voters because if there were Irvin would still be on the outside looking in. Only Cowboy fans liked Irvin back in the day who's on the field personality and off the field issues rubbed opposing fans and some in the media the wrong way.

I don't listen to music I can't dance to, and I don't dance to any of it unless it's getting close to closing time.

Good. Dancing half been known to induce dizzyness and hiperactivism in today's youth. Also, stay away from the intoxicants and you cant go wrong. Well, you could still go wrong, but at least without dancing and drinkin, which are the devil's workshops.

So, dancing is healthy it sounds like.....must be why I don't like it....and here I've been trying to convince myself that a bone-in Rib-Eye, sautéed mushrooms, and a baked spud dripping with butter several times a week is the healthy way to go

of course there is cowboys bias; same where there is pro steeler bias; several of those players do not deserve to be in the HOF. Frankly Swann does not and Stalworth is questionable. Bradshaw should not be in.

Look how long it took to get Rayfield Wright in the HOF

you look at the all 60's and all 70's teams and Who is NOT in the HOF from those teams? Three guesses which team they are from
