Should Isaiah Crowell be suspended (for wanting to kill cops)?

Looks like my original post might have been taken down because I included the disgusting image that this NFL player posted on his Instagram account yesterday with no doubt that this is what he wanted to do to cops in response to his perceived view of police.

So, if players are suspended for dog fighting and kicked out of the NFL for hitting women in the face, should Isaiah Crowell still have a job today? I think not...people need to learn the difference between 'free speech' and what really isn't (and if this is 'free speech', then Crowell can go ahead and practice his 1st amendment rights outside the NFL)

He should at least be fined, but it's worth noting Vick and Hardy (a commited crimes. Posting a photo on Instagram isn't a crime.

Riley Cooper wasn't suspended for shouting the N word at the top of his lungs in a public venue. He wasn't even punished by the league, only fined by the Eagles.

Free speech matters, but like any employer, the league has a responsibility to the fans to address these sorts of issues in some way.

He posted it, he meant it. If any player on my team, would not care who it was, sent that message and remained employed, I would have trouble respecting and watching on Sundays.

And in the event Crowell finds himself in trouble, I wonder who he'd be reaching out to for help....the hypocrisy.....

He openly advocated vicious killing of police. Apology to cover his backside doesn't cut it. He added to an already inflamed situation. Would a white player who tweeted a picture of lynching a black man get off with an apology? No he wouldn't and he shouldn't and neither should Crowell. What he did was reprehensible.

He should get a hefty fine and a suspension, and have to spend a day with the police seeing what they do to help him make lots of money.

I went to BSPN.Com and didn't find one tiny mention of this. I went to SI.Com and didn't find one tiny mention of this...and I searched hard! With the Hardy situation, day after day you could find numerous multi-page editorials lambasting him (and to an extent, they continue today...watch what happens if a team should sign him). These "journalists" seem to be very selective with their outrage, but anybody with a keypad can be a "journalist" these days, it seems.
It will be interesting to see the fan reaction to this cat when he goes into different stadiums. Of course, that's a good six weeks away and all will likely be forgotten by then.

I saw this and it is relevant

"(Worth noting, as always seems necessary: this is not a free speech issue. Crowell is free to say whatever he wants. This is an employment issue; Crowell’s employer is no more pleased with him than yours would be if you began making inflammatory statements in the break room.)"

As of now, it looks like this clown is just getting a minor slap on the hand by the Browns--they publically reprimanded him and said he'll have to do better going forward.

Obviously, if the script was flipped, I think most everyone knows the punishment would be extremely harsh and even the commissioner would step in.

At this point, I just hope he learns from this...

yea, an apology isn't enough. not saying he should get the perma ban, a fine is the least amount that should occur.

The sad part is, this is the type of nonsense that should get people upset, but when an idiot like Crowell does something like this, people link it with acts that raise awareness like this shirt.

Several Minneapolis police officers walked out of a Lynx game in response to these shirts, which imo, underlines a large part of the problem, which is even good cops believe officers are above reproach in situations like these.

The Browns can nullify his contract for that.

He's an idiot.

But he has a right to whatever stupid opinion he wants. Unless he committed a crime, I don't think he should receive any kind of punishment by the NFL.
His team however, should decide if they want him representing them.

They should....but the NFL should also suspend him.....people have been fired for less overt racism....there is no injustice worthy of that kind of response....

What would it mean for the script to be flipped in this scenario?
