Should JG let Zeke try for the Eric Dickerson record?

Record means nothing imo. play all that are healthy and don't change up the script. Ignore record, stack another win and let chips fall where they may.
I think that is Garrett's general approach other than to rest borderline injured players that would probably play if the game was more important.

I realize opinions are going to be split, and frankly I see both side of the debate. But...

Hell yeah, I let the team try to go get that record. It will focus them and excite them beyond anything else that can happen in these last two games.

Let Ezekiel and his OL try to get their names written in the record books and gain a piece of football immortality. This is their only shot this year.

They're going to have a week off to rest up for the Divisional Playoffs anyway. They'll be fine.

Now if Detroit holds Zeke to something like 50 yards or something, then I'd probably play it differently. However, I'd make sure that Detroit players are sore as hell following their game with Dallas... just like teams always are.
I agree !

Records are worthless in the long run.
Well not to the players and teams, miami players were very proud of the undefeated season.,
And Emmitt wanted to beat paytons record.
Dickerson doesnt want elliot to take his record.

And sure a SB win and ring is more important, but he can have both !! nothing wrong with that.
I think it would be a good goal for the team, just to unify them even more.

But hey lets just see what they do, and what happens in detroit game, hopefully he will break a long run,
that is what he needs. 1 carry and 75 yards ! That will get it rolling.

I agree they should rest the injured. This seems easy tbh. No team will go in shut down mode for a month and I think there really is no debate. Just a bunch of folks scared to lose a player but that possibility always exists. We should be used to that.

They can't rest for the Detroit game (too soon) so if he has a big day is within 125 going into the last game they need to let him go for it. He can rest during the bye week

If players take the field with a "don't care about winning" approach, then that could increase the injury potential, IMO. Some knucklehead on the opponent would like to blow up a unsuspecting player on the 12-2 Cowboys.

A Super Bowl title is much bigger. That should be his & the teams ONLY focus.

So we are incapable of doing both? Jeez, put the pedal to the metal and make this season as special as we can. Rack up the records on the way to capturing the Lombardi. We need to let go of this scared mentality. Playing timid, is same as playing to lose. This conservative "play not to lose" mentality is the exact opposite of this team.

This team EXPECTS to win. At everything, so fans need to stop worrying and get on board. Because we are going to enjoy this with or without you.

Dickersons record, production from Gregory, and consistency from Irving is the only thing to gain over the next couple weeks.

If it's in the context of winning the game. But if it's a blowout, I sit him and other starters.

I would rather have this debate after the Detroit game. Who knows if Zeke runs wild for 160 or more. Or maybe he gets shut down for only 50.
I wait to see how far away the record is before going into the eagles game.

The problem is he's not playing naturally and the goal is far enough out that it would require extra strategic effort... if he breaks a 70 yarder vs Detroit and is on fire then I could see it but I don't like the idea of forcing or doing what's out of normal game situation. That's when bad things occur.

If he gets it in the natural course of the games, then sure. If it means running him 30-35 times in the next two games, absolutely NOT!

Play to win, dont have a loser mentality. Let him go get it, if he gets it great, if he dont then its okay the SB is the ultimate prize. He will have an entire bye week to rest up, he will have 2 games to play, then another bye week for the SB. Do not want him rusty and coming out like the 1st game of the season. So play the guy.

Let him play a normal game Monday night. See where he is at then. No need to rush this decision.

I think its kinda important to him. I think if he breaks a couple of long ones go for it. If it is the so called "Dirty runs" get his *** out of there.

you surprise me being for this lol, I wonder did you add the name to the thread title?
Thanks if you did, I try to keep titles short, sometimes too short.
Yes, I just added a little detail to the title.

No real surprise, I've been on board with him going for the record all year. This guy has a real chance to break the thread. He breaks off another 160 yards, then you gotta let him go for it. Even better if it's done against the Eagles. lol
