Should JG let Zeke try for the Eric Dickerson record?

Only thing JG should let Zeke do......help bring a ring to Dallas. That's all.

Garrett learned a lot under Jimmy and in 92 when Emmitt was battling Sanders for the NFL rushing title, Jimmy played Emmitt week 17 even though we had clinched all we could. Emmitt would get 20 carries for 131 and win the rushing title. In this case it is more than just a rushing title it is a record that has stood for 33 years. I expect Garrett will give Zeke and the OL a chance to take that record down. I do think a lot will depend on how many yards Zeke puts up in this game that will determine what Garrett will do vs Philly.

Breaking Dickerson's record should be a secondary thought. We'll see Zeke play Monday night and depending on that performance, he may get a chance to break the record in Philly but it should not be the priority.

If he gets close after the Lions game, yes, let him go for it. He's young and can only do this once. We don't even know if we'll get to the Super Bowl. And if we do, we can have even more awards along with a Super Bowl trophy.

For me it all comes down to how he does Monday. Big game vs Detroit and I give him the 1st half vs Philly to see how close he can get. The team would really rally around him. Something special about the closeness of this team.

Personally, I value leading the league in rushing this year over some rookie rushing record. What if it was the rookie passing record or the rookie sack record or rookie receiving record? Would you choose that over making sure your guy is at full strength for the playoffs? All of these records could be broken without even leading the league in future years.....because they are records for "rookies" only.

Just play the game; play to win; whatever happens happens.

I would, but I am a little crazy, lol.
He is a young guy he doesnt need to be rested, and I think he wants that record.

Also it is a one time only chance to do it, since it is a rookie record.
Also Dickerson said EE could not break his record !! I say he can !

It would add to his threat level if he breaks it, like being leading rusher etc.

So I say let him go for it.

When OJ broke the 2000 barrier, his OL and really whole team were behind him and wanted him
to do that.

So our OL would share in that record with EE.

I doubt they let him do it or give him enough carries, but I think it would be good for the team as a whole
to try and do it.

If he happens to have a huge game (150 on 20 carries this week) then I would go for it.
Depends on the first half of Mondays game. If he only has 30-40 yards then shut it down for the most part but if he has 70-80 then I give him the chance to go for it

When you think about it, does anybody really want to own the E.D. record?

(it was funnier before the thread title was tweaked)

I care more about a deep playoff run (and chance at the Super Bowl) than wearing down my RB and. Exposing him to injury in meaningless games.
This is not an easy decision (for me) because he is SOOOO CLOSE... But I have to agree here. We have bigger fish to fry.

It'd be pretty interesting next week if Zeke goes off for another ~160 v. Detroit. If it's in reach, it gives the whole team something to work towards to keep things focussed for a the next two games. As long as the carries don't spike dramatically.

Just think how much closer the record would be if a couple of the big runs weren't called back by holding calls early in the year.
255 on 22 carries sounds good

Play Detroit more or less straight. Do whatever you intended before Thursday except maybe press more with the run. If he gets loose for a couple of long ones and he's within 80-100 of the record then see how close he can get in the first half against the Eagles and try for it if it's within reach.

Like Zeke and DAK have refrained from doing commercials and other personal goals to focus on football..

Records for rushing records needs to go.
Dak refrained initially, but he has a commercial.

Zeke has shot several commercials. He shot commercials before he was even drafted.

Yes... get him the record within the scope of the game.

He is 21 Years old. Don't worry about his legs. He will be fine. In 2- 3 years, you can start strategizing about how to save his legs and extend his career.

1,631 YD'S so doesnt look like he has a shot now, would need 200+ in last game.
He only got 12 carries in det game and did get the long run, but they gave McF 14 carries.

So thats the end of his breaking ED's record.
Too bad would have been great to see him break the record.
