Should the Dallas Cowboys sign Jason McCourty, Darrelle Revis?

There are some interesting scenarios that the Dallas Cowboys could be faced with in the days before and after the draft. One possible decision could involving adding a veteran free agent corner to the roster.

Cornerback Jason McCourty was released by the Tennessee Titans last week. The eight-year veteran is one of the better defensive backs available, recording 69 tackles, 12 pass defends and two interceptions last season starting in 14 games for the Titans. McCourty turns 30-years old in August.

Seven-time Pro Bowl corner Darrelle Revis is also currently available on the open market. Revis is certainly a legend in this league. However injuries and age (31) have slowed him down a bit. Still Revis could be looking to sign with a contender. And the Cowboys could be the right fit...

McCourty is a decent player. I have no doubts that we will not sign nor attempt to sign him.

Our free agency plan mirrors garretts personality. Bland and predictable but the glass half full crowd could view it as conservative and steady.

So we draft a cb and add one of these vets, then are all 5 cb's gonna be on the active roster gameday?

Yea, Revis checked out last year. Jason, on the other hand, would be a solid stop gap/vet.

That being said, wonder if he joins his brother in NE.

Does Dallas have the $$$$$ to sign these guys? Would it even be worth it? Personally, I want to build in the draft and use the popular phrase; the answer is on the roster.

The upcoming draft should provide some discerning team with talent that promises to be young and talented with a long future ahead.

I'd just as soon choose to draft one (or two) of them and take my chances that they'll flourish in the NFL for a very long time to come.

I think McCourty would be worth it if we could get him on a 2-3 year contract for a decent price. Cowboys could still draft defense as a priority but this would give the new guys a chance to adjust to the NFL with a solid veteran leading them. It would also take some pressure off our secondary woes. I'm afraid anyone who thinks the players we lost are easily replaceable with who we currently have on the roster and through the draft may be setting themselves up for disappointment. Hope I'm wrong.

Wouldn't doubt if 5 would be active. Can't ever have enough CB's.
I think last year a few times, they had 4 CB's active, and we were hurting to have enough healthy guys back there. When Leon McFadden was seeing a lot of playing time, we were hurting.

For a one or two year deal and if they are not expecting exorbitant money, why not? Anyone expecting a bunch of rookies to come in and start tearing it up, especially in our division which is now overloaded with WRs and on a team with no pass rush is in for a surprise.

If it's going to cost us a conditional pick, no to McCourty. Revis is basically shot. He doesn't have anything left.

Why even wish it then. We are building out team through the draft and old guys who want big bucks are not welcome here. Stephen has spoken!

McCourty won't get "big bucks".

And this fear of older players is ridiculous. The reality is if the Cowboys had $60MM in cap space, they wouldn't be opposed to signing an older vet or two.
