Should these moves have been done when Garrett took over

Thinking out of the box. Had these moves been done in Garrets first couple years we would not have had any real high expectations for him as a coach, he would have been learning while the team was in a youth movement. I guess hind sight is 20/20 to make these moves with basically his job in serious question is this fair ultimately.

So purposefully tank the team so expectations are low and we welcome 8-8 seasons? If not, I don't understand what you're saying...if so, I still don't understand...

What team would have dumped 2010 Ware?

What Im saying or asking is that with the moves being made we arent realistically thinking Super Bowl we are looking at a 2 yr rebuilding plan at minimum should we have started in this direction at the beginning of his tenure instead of at the end of his tenure. This is more of a getting the fellas thoughts and or opinion about starting the rebuilding phase with a coach who has to show us something or else in this coming year

You mean it's unfair to give him talent and expect him to win?

Well, perhaps it would have been best to revamp the roster earlier but Red likely couldn't have convinced Jerry to agree to doing so that soon. After all was said and done, it took some pretty drastic happenings to cause Jerry to rethink his methodology long after Garret got enthroned as HC. Actually, I'm relieved to see the inclination to make that change happened at all.

Now's the time to make the cuts. I'd take the chance on last year's DL again if I could.

No. They already did a massive overhaul of the roster since Garrett took over. They still had Barber, Bigg, Roy Williams, Gurode, Kosier, Sensabaugh, Newman, Bradie James, Columbo, Brooking, Felix, etc..

The 2 primary mistakes were the 3rd contract for Ratlif and Franchising Spencer.

Ware's base salaries were much smaller in past years. It balooned up in 2104.

Garrett already made the excuses for losing when they gutted the O-line after the first 8-8 loss to the Giants. He said something about having a young O-line and implied that they were rebuilding the team after losing to the Giants in the win or go home game.

That OL was not just young. It was bad. Trying to win with the likes of Phil Costa, Bill Nagy (later Holland) at guard was foolish. Strange thing is they did the same thing that offseason they did this one--they were trying to get Colombo and Davis to stay at reduced salaries, then cut them after they refused.

The problem is simple and no amount of "rebuilding" will solve it

1. We have a GM who has no plan and does not know how to evaluate talent so he will make the same mistakes in rebuilding that he made the first time

2. We have a HC who is not even fit to be OC , let alone the HC of possibly the highest profile sports organizations in the world

This cutting is just an easy excuse to retain Garrett after the debacle this year will be, we play the nfc west

We may eventually get to 9-7 and a playoff birth with this bunch of misfits but don't expect the rebuilding to result in going deep into the playoffs, NFCCG, or SB appearance

Not without significant changes in the FO and the HC
