Should they try Osa at DE?

True. It's essentially a 3-4 but more like a Wade Phillips' 3-4.
So you're trying to tell me we went from our linebacker room being one of the worst now you're gonna depend on 4 linebackers II don't know about that there's only three on this team we may be able to trust and I haven't even seen Logan play yet overstone's just getting back and you're gonna play a heavy 4 linebacker system yeah I don't think so we'd be better off now that we have more experienced defensive lineman to play the 43 play more man and be more aggressive The back end should get fixed a little with some of the guys coming back but there's no way I'm depending on a 4 linebacker system at least not this year..

It would seem like a waste to not have the 3 of them out there. The Cowboys may now really want to consider the 3-4 switch. They have the players that can occupy the 3 linemen spots and des that could be the outside backers.
And what depth would we have exactly???

Not sure you’d want to do that at this point in the season and I’m betting Clark, Osa and Williams won’t all 3 be on this team next year
Yes you do. I've been saying this for a minute and they played some 5 on the line vs arizona. Not something you want to do every down but you gotta get the best guys out there and that line up will be tough to run against. anytime Williams can be left 1 on 1 inside i'll bet on williams making the play.

Three man line- Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, Osa Odigizuwa. Backups Solomon Thomas, Jay Toia, Perrion Winfrey.

Outside LB's: Donovan Ezeiruaku and Demarvion Overshown. Backups Jadeveon Clowney, Sam Williams, Justin Houston

Inside LB's: Logan Wilson, Marist Liufau. Backups Shamar James, Damone Clark

So, they can run a 5-2, or a 4-2-5, or even a 3-3-5. Just put the best players out on the field and see what happens.

Well 2 LBs would be Edge guys EZ and Clowney. Make more sense now?

They definitely need to switch to a 3-4.

For the record, I don't hate the idea of Osa getting some DE reps.
It's about getting our best guys on the field and keeping these LBs from getting exposed. Instead of a SAM out there that can't diagnose plays, we have Quinnen Williams wrecking shop.

Yeah but just as easily with some restructures they all three can be here and maybe finally Jerry will realize when he sees an 8 game preview that if it was working you just keep it regardless of how you want to do the defense next year they could be used...

I get why you'd say that but it's easily if Clark wants to be here they can do a massive restructure they can fit this all in other teams do it we've said that about the cap and how other teams always push the can down the road devoid gears the stuff the Eagles do..

I'm equally betting that there's a good chance Pickens won't be here so they can sign Williams so they can put more effort into the defense put resources into the defense We need Pickens less than we need the defense to get better fast..

We've already seen it the other way around I don't care how good your offense is they almost have to be perfect unless the defense gets fixed that's the only way it gets fixed quick..
It’s possible to keep all 3 but I just don’t see it. But if given the choice of the best D and an avg O, I would take that over the opposite every time. Defense wins championships. It’s easier to scheme an offense to be effective than a defense

I don't need it to make sense I know what an outside linebacker is but you need to be excellent at playing the run and know how to read run versus pass and react properly not even Michael Parsons played that role very well he's definitely not a Demarcus Ware that can do both I don't know if Eazy E is big enough to play outside linebacker... But how about this let's let the most ridiculous worst defensive coordinator we've had since Mike Nolan but I believe he's worse than Mike Nolan figure out how to use his newly found toys for eight games he's on notice he's coaching for his job next year so let's see if he comes up with some masterful options and plays around week to week and see what sticks..

I know fans like to get involved in the contract disputes contracts the cap they think their capologist they think their coaches and play collars and now their defensive designers let's just see what they have in mind I want to see if Matt Eberpoo can take advantage of having lots of guys coming off IR those that were inactive now ready to come back and Logan and Quinn Williams now added to this team let's see what he can do i'm interested to see what he thinks they should do with the Dallas Cowboys defense not really what fans are suggesting but again I don't think Eazy E is big enough to play outside linebacker.... Clowney yes he might be that type for sure but given his age and what not not sure he can do that full time Unfortunately that's the type of thing that we Kneeland to do and RIP he's no longer here..

These guys got to be able to read the run first not run past them not be looking for a sack they need to be equally as good tackling and getting to the quarterback like I said one of the best we ever had was Demarcus Ware He could do three four or four three..

Well that's what I'm saying don't write it off yet let's see what happens they got 8 games to experiment if Jerry Jones sees that having those three guys is better than not having those three guys he'll probably work harder to keep them but if Matt keeps being one of the worst defensive coordinators we've ever seen and doesn't take advantage of his new toys With all these players coming off IR the ones that were inactive the last couple weeks because of injury they're all coming back if he can't do something the next 8 games that gives you a nice preview of what we could do next year It won't matter because if we get another defensive coordinator who knows which of these players are going to be worth keeping for his scheme so here we are all over again with another defensive coordinator job up in the air..

"Eberpoo" is pretty solid, @blueblood70 ! Nice one.

I like the idea of trying the 3-4 just to keep these LB liabilities off the field. We only have 2 LB worth fielding (Overshown + Wilson). It's just about playing to our strengths at this point. EZ might look better at a 3-4 outside linebacker than a 4-3 end at his size.

Osa, Clark, williams and EZE starting…..backup line is Clowney, Winfrey, Thomas, Houston/fowler. Osa can go back and fourth at DT in rotation.
EZ would be a LB in a 3-4 defense. Too small.

Not sure we could make a move in 1 season, but definitely have more flexibility with Williams on the roster.

Ill give you that but again, let's let Eberpoo that shot at figuring out how to use his new toys.... Look if he feels that trying a 34 might work for this team that's cool but I know one thing this has not been a good tackling team the last 10 years I know different coaches a lot of different players they just don't seem to want to tackle anymore in this day and age you need to be really good tacklers to be in a 3-4.. And smart like I said it's a read and react from your outside linebackers did not run past the running backs to try to get the quarterback and have them dump the ball off nowadays right over your head and the way our teams then those are 20 or 30 yard gains..

Should they try Osa at DE?

Especially since Winfrey is coming back.

Clowney is the only DE that isn’t undersized in this group.

I think he could be a DeMarcus Lawrence type DE.
Yes. Let's hope he is better than Lawrence.

Hey, he was already trying 5-man fronts last week. That's what got me thinking. He might have even mentioned it, so what I'm saying isn't purely speculative. But as always, I'll be watching to see what happens after the bye.

On the LBs: I agree on read and react, but Murray does things his own way LOL. He reacts, gets lost, gets washed out, then reads the play on the sideline on his tablet after we get scored on. I think your read and react plan is probably a better idea

NO

5 Man Down Lineman with Osa Clark and Williams all right there in the middle...

Eze-Osa- Clark -Q.Williams-Houston

You can play with a lot of different sets but I want 5 down lineman I want the linebackers and safeties closer to the line of scrimmage we've seen it work there's no reason they can't experiment with different fronts and whatnot You know substitutions but that's what I'd like to see get Clowney his amount of reps as much people hate Sam Williams he's been in on some big plays this year regardless if he's been inconsistent and a knucklehead he can make plays...
There not down lineman (all 5)
