ok guys, should we go and sign david carr, if price is good, not break the bank though,

1st, how much money in cap space do we have, i have read somewhere from 12 to 14 million, you got to save about 3-4 million for draft and pratice squad, that would leave about 8-9 million, then i guess take off 1.5 for hamlin, leaving about 6-7, the cowboys always keep about 4-5 million spare, so that leaves about 2 million left to spend, so do we have enough money to go get david carr?

next, like one guy posted, oakland needs a QB but carr would be stupid to sign with them, they have a really bad, bad offensive line, next is miami, but they are interested really in green, so that leaves minnesota, possibly us, to me, David Carr should go to a team that is near playoff bound, or a team that has bbeen in playoffs with a decent offensive line, and good wrs, like we have with to and glenn, to make him look good, especially with dumpoff to witten, a good te,

so, i am thinking, maybe get Carr, what if something happens to Romo, he hasnt played a full season, and it would be good competition with romo, johnson and carr, then if something happened during preseason, to another team's QB, then you possibly could trade either johnson or carr for a pretty fair draft choice, at same time, it would push carr and romo to become better, knowing you have 2 young good qbs,

Carr won't even sniff valley ranch. Cleveland, Minnesota, and Miami will be all over him.

No reason Carr should want to come to Dallas.

He won't start. He won't make as much as he would elsewhere.

i think he will go somewhere like oakland where he will have a shot at starting. we won't cut johnson after just signing him. there simpley is no place for carr with the boys at this point. the cost would be too high for a look see. he will get more money than most think

I agree man. I still think that if Carr is given a good offensive line he will end up being a very good QB.

Sign him up! Trade Romo and Julius for the #2 overall and take Peterson. Super bowl will be conceded to us!

Carr would be a good gamble in that Romo is not proven and we need a veteran QB. Carr may not live up to his draft position ever, but he wasn't given a legitimate shot IMO. The Texans have had the worst offensive line and very little talent around Carr for the last three years.

He's a solid QB, he might end up in Oakland. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Dallas.

Thoughts on David Carr.

He still thinks of himself as a starter. Ergo ipso facto emeritus plurus: He'll want a starter's salary.
That won't fly here or other teams already with capable QBs. He'll wind up in Oakland or as a project (again) in Green Bay or Washington.

My thought is that Danny Snyder will grab him before the weekend is over.

We've already signed Brad Johnson and the egos at Valley Ranch won't go for another veteran lest they seem likes fools for going after a high-priced (by Carr) veteran.

Carr has the skills to be great.
With a good QB coach and good line, he'll do well. Some day.

Well, some gems (no charge and free).

Let's go into the draft with the intention of stocking ourselves with a corner and a safety. The rest will take care of itself.

With the Hamlin signing, I think that we are $12,074,314.00 under. But we did sign the OL from the Commanders and the CFL WR also. Any idea what their contracts are?

Why don't we just sign any starting quarterback that is cut because that is what teams do with elite players. We are pretty much set at quarterback and Carr should have played significantly better for the Texans for the 5 years he spent there.

I know they had serious line issues particularly at the onset of selecting Carr but over the last 2 years Carr should have performed better. I remember how we pined for this guy during the Carter & Hutchinson years.

I think if Jerry wants to make this move I think it should happen with a deal of 10 mil for 3 year with a 5 million dollar signing bonus or 20 million with a 5 million dollar signing bonus with a whole lot of incentatives he have to earn, or sign him to a two year deal worth 4 million and trade him off for an draft choice (just like the Saints try to do when the have sign Michael Bennett and got Reggie Bush).

I like Brad Johnson because he doesn't make many mistakes and that's vital to today's NFL. The less mistakes from a quarterback, the better chances of winning games. Trust me Brad Johnson is a better Quarterback than the last two old quarterbacks we brung here (Vinny "Frankenstein" Testeverde and Drew "The Statue" Bledsoe).

I would love to have Carr as Romo's backup. If Romo were to go out for an extended period of time (God forbid) we are pretty much screwed with Johnson as his replacement. Carr would make a much better replacement over an extended period than Johnson IMO.

That said, he isn't coming here. Carr will want to start and will get that chance on other teams. He will also want a ton of dough which we aren't prepared to give to a backup QB. If he had been available, or if Jerry would have waited a bit, then we might have worked out a deal but even that would be unlikely given that Carr wants to start.

Not going to happen but I wish it would.

Man oh man, Houston has been making some funky moves.

Carr has been sacked about 3 million times in his career. His numbers last year, were pretty decent. Over the past three years, his passer rating is 80...behind an AWFUL offensive line.

In any case, he's not coming to Dallas.

I was reluctant to post this earlier but I think Carr would be a great fit for The Boys.

I'm afraid of the sophmore jinx for T.R .

That being said, I think Carr would cost us alot.

I love Ya T.R. ,but I would like to see Carr in our backfield .

let the bashing begin:eek::

I was holding out for Ricky Ray. :(

Signing Carr would give Dallas a good quarterback core...

1st string: Romo - showed very good poise, is very mobile and had good production in his first year as a starter.

2nd string: Carr - good passer who, like Bledsoe, tends to hold onto the ball a touch longer than the pass rush will allow. With the addition of Davis protecting the front of the pocket, he should have a better protection than in Houston (take it for what it's worth).

3rd string: Johnson - proven veteran, who would be a great third option should Romo and Carr go down.

Picking up Carr would be a solid free agency move on Jerry Jones' part, but it would come at a steep price. Perhaps too steep after the Johnson signing.
