Shout out to Dalton Shultz

While I still think his blocking sux,..and having two big buffed up WRs instead of TEs limits the edges both vs run and pass, so I see the need for a Bell type blocker.

- i'm very glad Schultz has emerged as a capable receiver
that has developed the knack to roll into creases and spaces on the move.
I was ready to move on without him, a year or two ago. But he's showing up with renewed confidence, game experience, vs the the drops and disappearing acts vs this year.

- Forced in because of the Jarwin injury, that gave him massive opportunity and reps to learn on the run, and he's remain healthy to add.
You could live with Shultz as a No.2 guy. He'll be a UFA in 2021.

I remember hearing during a broadcast that McCarthy told one of the announcers that Jarwin has all pro potential.

he has played really well and if jarwin comes back i think the te position is in good shape

He's been one of very few bright spots in an otherwise forgettable season. Probably not a Pro Bowl-type of guy, but someone who could net you 5-6 catches for 50/60 yards a game is valuable enough to keep around.

Why do we have this thread every week. He's fine, nothing more nothing less lol.

There are like 15 TEs in the league who are exactly the same player.

Amazing what happens when you get the progress stoppers gone......cough cough Witten.

Both of if those guys rave about what they learned from JW, fwiw. It just takes time for TEs to develop, and Schultz was rightly behind Jarwin in the lineup.

Add me to the list of apologists. I was wrong on DS. He just needed to play.

He should get 500-600 yards receiving this year. Anytime a TE can do that, it's a really good season for them. While Jarwin is the better athlete and more of a receiving TE, Schultz is a better route runner and more of a traditional TE.

Exactly. Schultz came from Stanford. That school is not a TE passing team. But that school does not bring stupid people onto their campus. One of the comments when Schultz was drafted was he has the tools to become a competent pass catcher. There was a video on YouTube which showed some of his skills then, and suggested, with time, he'd be pretty good.

While fans, myself included, tend to be impatient. And what can you learn from this team in the way of individual play when this franchise has buried guys like Schultz.

I do not blame Witten. Witten taught Schultz, who evidently has the ability to learn. Jarwin as well.

As far as the blocking, Witten was not a great blocker when he came into this league. He developed. And along with that developing he also developed the ability to get flags for illegal procedures in every game.

Hopeful that does not rub off on these new guys.

I look forward to seeing both Jarwin and Schultz on the field next season. Just another piece of the puzzle which seems to be a small brought spot in a season of disaster.

Big facts.

He’s definitely shut me up and proved me wrong
me too. I was pissed when he missed the throw in the end zone against Seattle I think it was but he has more than exceeded my expectations

Eh, I still think you can do better than him. Give me one that can block decently and one that can run.

I thought he had a great game. I think he will be a very good TE for us. Pair him up with Jarwin and I think we got all we need.
Been complimenting his performance since first game. A most pleasant surprise.

When it comes to teaching himself to block effectively, Jason Witten really pulled a rabbit out of his head.

Actually I was thinking of this recently, if he and Jarwin look great in the passing game, perhaps Gallup becomes trade material because there is only one ball. Next year that may be a real decision to make.
