SI: NFC scout says about Witten "He’s almost resigned now to catching the ball and falling down."

Like that one time he TOASTED Byron Jones just this training camp to the point where he had him spinning around in circles. Byron being one of the most athletic guys to come out of the last 2 drafts.

Sounds past his prime to me. Sorry, but with my love for Witten I take this one really personally.

I can't find those stats. Unfortunately, it looks like PFF only tracks for RBs.

In 2015 Jason was 12th in YAC, 9th in total yards, 4th in receptions, with 9.3 yard average--all in a year with spotty QB play.

Yes, it would be nice to have access to advanced stats like that. NFL teams have all kinds of advanced stats but us poor ole fans have to make do with the basics. Oh well, it's still 100x better than what I could easily access in 1992.

This just shows that you don't have to be smart to be a scout.
True, but you apparently do have to be "anonymous" to be one. Seems every time I've ever seen a scout cited as a source, the word scout is preceded by the word "anonymous". Or would the writers of these articles be making this stuff up and using the "anonymous source" as the foundation for their crap? Nah...couldn't be.

The guy is right. I fondly remember back in the good old days Witten taking it to the house from anywhere on the field whenever he caught the ball. Oh, wait...he's never been elusive nor fast. What he did and still does is block (not as well but effective), get open and catch the football.

Witten has never generated a lot of TDs, even early in his career. Witten may be on the decline but he's still producing close to his career averages. NFC scout must be new to the division.

Idiots. Witten never was a WR playing tight end like some of the modern TEs. He consistently gets open, he catches the ball on medium and short passes for first downs and touchdowns,,, and he blocks. His game is the nearly the same as it ever was. Witten is an old school TE, but he's not old.

Who really gives a hoot if Witten's Yards After Catch aren't the cat's meow . . .
As long as he keeps moving the chains, it's all gravy!

Our jealous rivals should be so lucky!

Exactly and the QB know they can count on him to be at the right place and will make the grab. He is a safety blanket for QB's

Can't say I disagree at all. Generally, where Witt catches it is where it will be spotted. Not a game changer anymore, yet still a reliable pros pro though.

He's never had the flexibility of the more super-athletic pass catching TE's like Tony Gonzalez. It's always been a defenders best bet to go for Witten's legs to get him on the ground.

That said, I'm not trading him in!

Yeah I can't have an opinion that differs from the sheep.

Right, because why would anyone like Witten? What has he ever done for this team? All of us "sheep" need to start rooting for a real TE. LOL. Cmon man.

This is NOT news people. Tony Romo is not nearly what he was either. I think people really don't want to focus on how Tony played last year pre and post injury. The best of these 2 guys is way behind them. Wake up!
And yet, they're both still better than 90 percent of the league at their positions.

Amazing.

Blah blah blah whatever.

Amazing you bring TR into a thread about Witten.
