Poe and McCoy are well past their primes. They would have been great signings if it was 5-10 years ago. I never got excited about either of them considering how bad they played last season with the Panthers.

true....well at least we did not continue bargain basement free agent signings...i mean Aldon Smith was huge pick up with little risk and now he is a monster...tank better start getting some sacks or Jerry aint going to continue paying him 20 mil a year...if i was tank and if i did not improve I might think about giving some of that money to Aldon...but that would never happen

You can sign ET, Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed etc....it wont make a lick of difference if our DT's can't disrupt the pocket. Our DT's are hot garbage and nothing will improve this defense until that is addressed

Not true at all. While better DT play would be great, adding a top safety with range and instincts like the guys you mentioned would make a world of a difference.
