Freeney is not coming for minimum salary just like a Foles is not coming to be a backup QB if he has a shot to start for a team.
Freeney is looking for real money as it's probably his last payday in the NFL if he finds a team to meet his demands. Does
anyone think Freeney would not already be on a team if he was taking a minimum salary 1 year deal? Dallas has made the
decision to go cheap and young so we just have to roll with it this year. We wasted a wad of money on a "headcase" like Hardy
which I was always against. It's time to grow our own vegetables and develop our own players. I've never been high on paying
big money to take on other teams castoffs.

Freeney took a one year deal with Arizona worth around $970K last year. So yes, while not the vet minimum, it was small chump change. He's likely not signed because as said above, he doesn't want to do a full camp so he's probably waiting.

So I have no idea what you are uttering above.

And FWIW, there are some reports the Skins might end up with Freeney.

That would be awesome.

Well, we wouldn't want to stop all of this wonderful "progress", would we?

When you don't know what you're talking about, you shouldn't.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/arizona-cardinals/dwight-freeney/

Oh really? What he signed for last year and what he may be wanting this year after an 8 sack season could be nite and day.
I said what he may be asking for not for what he played for last year. Need to learn how to read, right? If he would sign for
less than a million today, do you think some team would pay him that if that's all he was asking for?

I could agree that Freeney might not want to do camp. He might also be available after week 1 at something less than a million. If he
is then the Cowboys might kick the tires if needs be and his contract is not guaranteed. Otherwise, just pass and look for guys you might
get on another team's practice squad before week 1.

Sure it will. Because you happen to think so or it fits your agenda, all evidence to the contrary. The only direction that his salaries have gone is down. He's a 36-year old free agent shopping for a team to continue his career. Any talk of his salary demands being high is an outright fabrication.

I said what he may be asking for not for what he played for last year. Need to learn how to read, right?

Again, know what you're talking about before you spew out nonsense that makes you look like a fool. There's reality, and then there's you grasping at imaginary straws to try to support a failed argument.

He's getting plenty of looks for teams better preparing than this one. He's looking for a schedule like he had in Arozona last year, where he can avoid the grind and the wear and tear of training camp.

He got that last year and showed the league that he was right in getting it. Not only was he fresh and ready, he got better and was more productive later in the season. The Arizona front office was smart enough to get a spot-duty pass rusher at a great bargain, I hope this front office can learn from that and follow suit.

Wow! Always so negative, nothing positive to say and you always seem mad at the team, coaches, players and the world. Oh, one exception...Mr. Hardy which I think is your secret (Kissing Cousin). I don't know for a fact but, it's reasonable to assume that Mr. Freeney would already be signed if he was willing to take a deal for league minimum and no guarantees. I think Stephen has spoken that he's not interested on "old" guys or Mr. Hardy.

Think he's better able to generate on his own, than Hardy last year? I don't...

Well, excluding any injuries, the interior of the defensive line received some upgrades in Thornton and Collins. Not to mention Crawford should be healthy.

So, while Freeney may not have the ability/freak strength of Hardy, the guy next to him is an improvement over who Hardy had next to him last year. It shouldn't be an one man show this year on the defensive line.

Project much? There's nothing "negative" about anything I'm saying here. Unlike you, I'm stating the facts about Dwight Freeney, his productivity, and his recent salaries. You, on the other hand, are merely speculating and grasping at nonexistent straws to support a failing argument.

Actually, based on facts and history, it's not "reasonable" at all. Quite unreasonable in fact because it flies in the opposite direction of everything that's known to be true.

I think Stephen has spoken that he's not interested on "old" guys or Mr. Hardy.

Whatever he said was before his most recent draft miss decided to go off the reservation and grab the peace pipe again.

Both Stephen and his father's decisions have brought this team to where they are now. About to start a season with nothing but disappointments, suspensions, and question marks surrounding their hoped-for pass rush and defense.

Actually, that is vet minimum for a 10 + year player.

Please Jerrah, what's the hold up?? Immediate upgrades for cheap....

I would definitely go out and sign Foles. But I have a feeling he is going to want a starting gig so that probably wont fly in Dallas.

LOL...............you know what is sad and hilarious all in the same breath is that I saw a report that the Cowboys are about to be fined 250k for having 3 players under suspension. They are soooo bad in that department that they have actually crossed over a limit with ineptitude.

Maybe it will serve as a wake-up call to shut down the home for wayward boys?

Im thinking that new 10 billion dollar practice facility should have a plush rehab center built into it. :lmao::lmao2:

Why not? Skip to the chase and have it all under one roof. Really cuts down on travel expenses too!

I have a feeling this will be like 2013 The year of the 100 linemen. A constant revolving door of linemen going through Valley Ranch. Martel Wilson to Jarius Wynn to Caesar Rayford to Edgar Jones to Everette Brown to Martez Wilson.

Freeney will only be an option after the start of the season.

They need to see what they have in the current players they been high on so far...and I do not mean the Gregory type high....
Freeney would only be a progress stopper at this point.
Then after the season starts, if it's not what they had hoped for, then by signing a vet, his salary is then not fully guaranteed. Because when Lawrence returns, then possibly Gregory and McClain, someone would need to be released. And what if that person is the vet player.

Marvin Austin was so fat and out of shape. I watched him stretching before a game right in front of me and he hurt himself bending over...he was cut on Tuesday. That always cracks me up.

Please tell me you aren't trying to argue that it would be better for the Cowboys pass rush to grab a practice squad player from another team as opposed to paying Dwight Freeney?

And it should be noted that Freeney had 8 sacks in 11 games last year. Arizona didn't sign him until October after they lost an edge rusher to injury. Granted, 3 of those sacks came in one game against GB.

I suspect he's looking for a similar arrangement............ a couple of million (he had a sack bonus in his contract apparently last year with Arizona) and a situation where he plays for a supposed contender and won't have to practice in camp.
