Adding him would give us the undisputed best secondary in football. The guy is still a top 3-4 safety in football along with Roy, Ed Reed and Rodney Harrison.

No thanks... we'd then have two strong safeties and no ball hawk safety, which is exactly what we need. 11 years is a little old for a defensive youth injection... we'd need another body a year or two down the road at FS anyway.

Lawyer Milloy is no sloutch in coverage

That's just my opinion, I don't know much about him anyway except for he's been a pretty good player in his days... Whatever happens will happen... HEY, maybe he can talk his buddy Eric Moulds into wearing the star if he gets the shaft as well.

He's a strong safety. Period.

:lmao:

Are you serious?

Ed Reed is the best cover safety in football. What is he? Oh yeah, a STRONG SAFETY.

Darren Woodson was very good in coverage, what was he? A STRONG SAFETY

Credability, meet toilet

Once again, :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

What the heck is with people thinking strong safeties can't be competent in coverage. As mentioned above, Ed Reed and Woody are/were both strong safeties. Don't forget Troy Polamalu, also a strong safety. Oh, and Roy Williams, despite what anybody thinks, who can cover pretty well too, strong safety. Lawyer Milloy is a good FOOTBALL PLAYER, and i'll take those any day.

If we wanted to sign Lawyer Milloy, we could do it right now. We wouldn't have to wait until 12:01 a.m. Friday because he's not a UFA, he was cut.

I didn't realize we needed a youth injection on defense, I thought that is what we needed at O-line and Wr. Our secondary, except for Aaron Glenn is actually pretty young, a couple of which are just entering into their prime.

I for one wouldn't mind having some experience at the FS position.

Yeah but Milloy plays much more like Roy Williams than he does Ed Reed or Woodson.

Milloy pus William's coverage skills to shame

Use too. He is losing alot of steps at his age. THe wheels have definitley fallen off. He is not well preserved like Aaron Glenn. If you want an old FS, Marcus Coleman would be the better pick. He has slowed down too, but he still has FS speed.

A year or two practically guaranteed fix (barring injury), yea that's exactly what we need. If it has to be done Roy can move back to FS. A headache position fixed just like that. And at a time when we don't need to be nitpicking with individual positions for years on end trying to fix them as we have seen us doing in the recent past. Leadership skills to boot, our defense could use it---even Roy could still use a mentor like that, he fell lost when Woody disappeared on him. We're too close to waste time on projects. If not now, time we do get it fixed other players will be getting too old and new positions will need fixed before you know it. I believe Bill and Jerry are serious this year. I believe we fix everything. Could start right here.

You're just embarrassing yourself here. Milloy's strength has always been in run support and blitzing. His cover skills are just adequate. Bringing up guys like Reed is just stupid. Let me tell you something- I just listened to Marv Levy try to be diplomatic about why they released Lawyer. Basically what he hinted at was a) it wasn't primarily a cap decision- his salary for 2006 is only 1m b) the decision was based on the kind of defense they're going to (cover 2) and "the wall" they see LM hitting at his age. c) they wanted to make the move now so they can make Buffalo more attractive for a potential FA replacement. And this is from a team that is playing him at his natural SS position- not trying to move him where he is less effective.

IMO Milloy is still an above average SS. But if you want an older cover saftey Marcus Coleman would be a better "band aid" at a much lower price. I still think we draft a safety for the long haul on day 1 of the draft.

But keep yukking it up. No doubt there are guys out there like you following other teams that will be touting LA as a "pro bowler" if we decide to let him go.
