Signing Romo to long deal ensures that TO will get a three year extension.

Jerry Jones will give Romo EVERY chance to succeed for NOW and the very near future.

The New Ball Park doesnt open for another year plus... Jerry is going to want the star power and the winning results.

Signing TO to be here longer is probably priority after this season.

A quiet deal will be done and then announced. I believe. I hope.

I dont want to see Tony out there with just Witten.

I think he'll get an extension, but not sure about three year extension, I'm thinking that it might be for two years, just a guess, nothing more.

but I thought T.O. was out of here and Key was coming back after the 2006 season? I was even told to "book it".

Co-signed...

Maybe with an option for a third.

I am hoping he get's a good extension, we need him and he has done everything we could have asked for. his numbers are right at the top end of the league, why not keep him? T.O. should remain a Cowboy.

Well, I think that there are other pressuring factors that will weigh in ultimately on whether Jones decides to give TO the extension or not...I think all things being equal, Owens wouldn't remain but things have changed...Glenn cannot be counted on, legitimately, this year or even as a temporary solution next year...His status on the team is tenuous, at best, and simply gets more muddled the longer he remains out...If Glenn were healthy, I think TO would have to make an even stronger case to remain for an extension...That and the fact that Crayton hasn't been THE go to guy many had hoped...Hurd hasn't really emerged either...Even with 2 first round picks, hard to know whether one won't go to the offense let alone both of them.

The way it looks, unless a FA becomes available, TO will remain...The last factor to consider is Drew Rosenhaus...Owens will be looking to get paid and that could be the only deal breaker as JJ has learned not to give away the farm longterm...If I had to choose, I'd say cut TO loose and sign some FAs...Romo is a big part of why TO is doing so well, too

^really not a T.O. fan are you? lol.

thr guy led the league in TD's last year, is gonna be right at the top end again this year, he is at the top in yards, catches and he is Romo's go to guy. Romo needs Owens, Owens need Romo and most importantly the Cowboys team needs Owens.

even if we had Glenn and drafted another good reciever we still should keep T.O. - haven't we learned anything from the 49'ers and Eagles not keeping their #1 reciever?

Doesn't T.O.'s contract end at the same time as Roy Williams'?

Start getting word to RW through the grapevine, Jerry. ;)

TO and Jerry are going to have some tough negotiations I would think from a standpoint of value versus years left in the league. TO at current production and form deserves to be paid with the top 3 WR's in the NFL but you have to temper that with his age and the years that he will be able to perform at that level. Ther is a middle ground but I am not sure you can get there without some outside bidding to see where the market is for him.

That is where it is going to get sticky, but enough guaranteed money up front will get them there I think.

TO, at this point is holding the cards with TG pretty much done and nobody else in the stables to take his place.

We need a WR in the draft.

I'll preface my comments by saying that I wanted no part of TO from the outset....That being said, he's been a welcome addition...Especially since he's gotten rid of the dropsies of last year...But every great story about TO in his past has been followed with horror once things go awry with the team and winning...So, I'm not sold on TO being over his mental ego and problems...just yet.

That being said, he comes with a pricetag...He'd be worth it if he was definitely going to be a team guy...Which he has been, up until now.

Just saying that Glenn's situation makes it a tight issue along with Drew being his agent...I can't imagine a first rounder being used on a WR unless someone fabulous is available.

If Glenn were healthy and a part of things, along with good development of our young WRs, I'd say let TO walk as there will be other FAs available...But the way things are, looks like TO has a lot of leverage...Question is, will he be unreasonable with it (Past history says yes) or will he want to continue to be a part of things?

he wasn't unreasonable with the Eagles though, they were unreasonable to him. he didn't ask for MORE money, he asked for the contract to be restructured so that they couldn't pay him cheap for his best years and then cut him before he is supposed to recieve his valued money...the Eagles were conning him.

T.O. will ask for what's fair and I think we should give him it, he's putting up numbers, being a great team mate and helping us to our best record in over 10 years. I think Romo will be asking for us to keep T.O. also.

Jerry wont play games with TO... an option = no.

One of the things Jerry said about signing TO was.....

Owens problem was money and his worth, Jerry responded with
"I can take care of the money part of it"

He will take care of the money part of it again.

Its all about production... not so much the age thing.... TO is the exception to the rule when it comes to age.... he is a BEAST with the ball.

Thanks... just paraphrasing how Jerry handled the TO deal.

Took him on his plane and related to their rough childhood upbringing..... most importantly... giving him what he was worth on the WR market. Very sensible if you ask me. Jerry is good like that.

Owens keeps himself in tremendous shape like Marvin Harrison. I bet Owens could pull a Jerry Rice and put up numbers into his 40's, ie. in '02 at the age of 40, Rice finished 9th in the NFL in receptions.

I don't mind as long as we don't pull another Larry Allen.

I am not worried about losing TO to FA. Jerry Jones has never lost a player to FA that he wanted to keep....
