Manusky is very highly regarded by Marty and would probably be bumped to DC if Phillips left.

Them giving permission to the 9ers to interview him for their DC job tells me they already know Phillips isnt leaving

That doesn't fully connect. That's a prmotion for Manusky. Most teams would let him interview regardless of the standing of the curent DC.

What if they have no idea whether Phillips will be leaving or not? They can't stop Manusky from interviewing. All this means is that he's not limiting his options.

Yes they can stop Manusky from interviewing, and if they werent sure if Phillips was coming back they wouldnt have allowed him to interview with the 9ers

As I said this isnt definite just "signs"

We have been doing it since Bill quit. Seems very likely to me that if My DC may be leaving in a few days I will hold onto the guy most likley to replace him for a few more days

and if you don't know either way, it would be a jerk move to prevent a member of your staff from interviewing for a better position, because something MAY happen. We didn't prevent anyone we wanted to stay from interviewing for better jobs.

Why are we bringing in Norv to tutor/groom JG if the HC is not to be worried about the X's and O's like you feel is for a HC that is known for Defense?
