Cutting Carr is a no brainer as I don't think there is much of a penalty there (that is something they have done right) and I have heard they can make 50 million in cap space pretty easily, more if the salary cap goes up more than expected. Give Murray a series of 1 year prove it deals (little guaranteed but lots of money per year), franchise Dez then see about trading him (his change in agents seems to suggest to me that he doesn't have much interest in staying), and I don't think McClain will be demanding much... as his history sort of limits him from asking for much.

Dez is a Cowboy for life. They've already low balled Murray and I'm certain if it came down to it, they'd keep Dez over Murray.

I honestly think they let both of them try their hands at free agency and see that the market isn't what they were expecting. Especially Murray, but even Dez... when the GM is pissed at a player... they aren't likely to give that player a huge contract.

The Cowboys will have the cap space to keep Melton, Dez, and possibly Murray. I thought this was part of the reasoning behind cutting D-Ware last March.

Yea and along with that, they didn't make any big deals this year even though they probably could have.

What do you mean by this?

The one thing in Melton's favor is that it's 9M for 2015 and they could move on after that with no additional money. If Romo looks like he's going to be able to play next season, then Jerry will probably see the Cowboys as realistic contenders in 2015. Jerry basically admitted (in Jerry speak) that the Cowboys were a real long-shot to be contenders this season.

Try their hands? With Dez, the offers will be plenty and huge. The last thing the Cowboys should do with Dez is allow themselves to get into a situation where they have to compete with other offers on the open market.

Murray is a bit different given his position.

Then let Dez go. I know I am going to be called crazy for suggesting such... and I like Dez, I really do... but we already have given our QB a huge contract, and I just don't see Dez as being worth several talented capable starters on defense. Let him go, and draft a guy like Strong to replace him for 1/10 as much money.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/dez-bryant-joined-jay-zs-184653188.html;_ylt=A0SO8ygbyVZUsoUAzO9XNyoA If a GM says they are unhappy with one of their best players... they are pissed.

There was another report that he was happy because he felt it would help the Cowboys brand and money. Don't take just one report as gospel. It's unfounded and probably untrue. I've never heard of a GM get mad at a player for dumping an agent and signing another. It happens all the time and some are trying to make a story about it. Plus Jay is a huge Cowboys fan and he and Jerry know each other well as stated before

And who is going to play WR? Yeah someone just want to let talent walk like we have an abundance of it and I just don't understand that thought process. Let's go back to trotting castoffs out there and trading first rd picks when we spent a first rd pick on a top flight wr Twill doesn't have the hands to be a #1 and he isn't reapected like one. Look no further then the bracket coverage Dez sees on every play and Twill can't take advantage of it

You also have to consider we need to draft other players at other positions. Look no further the. Starting to look ahead at Tony's replacement possible another dline or a Lb and now probably a corner. You can't keep wasting draft picks in the first on WR. You got your guy he's earned his contract pay him and be done.

They could always franchise him. It's one of the rare times that the Franchise Tag might be less than his requested annual salary on a new contract.

Like I said, draft Jaelen Strong. looks a lot like a young Dez or Megatron (and I am not the only one to say so) and can be had for 1/10 as much money for the next 3-4 years. Yes, this will mean drafting a WR in the first, something I don't really want to do, but it will mean we have an extra $12 million to spend on our line... I think the two equal out.

In what round? First? We need lb help we need corner help we have a 34 year old QB that's got a bad back we have to consider his future replacement. We need dline help. Yeah no obviously you have an agenda and it's showing. Only so many draft picks why waste another first in a WR we just did 4 years ago who has been a stud

So with $12 million you don't think we could sign LBs and Dlinemen? Beyond that there is always the franchise and trade option to consider whereby we get an extra 2 picks. We need a WR, LBs, and d-linemen, the question is the best way to get all of that. I think getting LBs and DL help from the free agency is better than getting WR help from free agency... but that might just be me.

Problem is if he ends up with 10 sacks he WILL be worth $9m+.

It's a good problem, however, when you also consider Dez, Murray, and Rolando McClain's deals are ALL up at the end of the season you wonder how they are going to pull it all off.

Let the goal line receiver walk!! #problemsolved
