Rice Game Status, Future In Question

Bucs defensive end Simeon Rice likely won’t play against Dallas on Thursday and appears to be done for the season. Given his high cap figure for next year, it also seems likely Rice has played his last down as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.

Rice, who is listed as doubtful for the Cowboys game, has missed the past two games with a serious shoulder injury. Surgery seems to be the best option for Rice at this point.

“I think the longer this goes on it’s inevitable that we’ve got to take a look at what the final analysis is,” Coach Jon Gruden said. “It’s been very frustrating for him. He’s tried to go, he’s wanted to go, he wanted to play last week. Medically, we chose not to let him play, and we miss him. We miss him, certainly.”

ROmo should have plenty of time then, it's a shame because it is real easy to run screens against Rice, he charges up field and after the passer and that is all.

Not Happy about the injury but glad he's not playing. Although he hasn't played well this year he could have been a Potential a problem.

thats a big break for us because he is obviously one of the premier pass rushers and without him Romo should have a lot of time to pick the Bucs D apart

apparently juran bolden is not going to play either and according to this tampa writer, Phillip buchanon is going to have to cover glenn or owens...

***edit** actually this is a fan blog entry from the tampa tribune.

Man we have to find a way to win this game....

Buc Bits: Chucky to set sail? Rumors are swirling that Coach Jon Gruden may be feeling the urge to change ships. The hot rumor of the weekend had the coach heading to Dallas to replace Bill Parcells after the season. The latest is that Gruden may return to Philadelphia to replace Andy Reid. Here’s one for you: Gruden stays put, where he has all the pieces in place to do things his way.

Hey, Bucs fans, have any of you noticed the improved play by the D-Line the last two games? Stout against the run? Increased pressure on opposing passers? What’s up with that? Could it be that the blue-collar crew of replacements for Simeon Rice have shown up to work? Hey Indy: want a little Rice with your Booger?

Here comes T.O. It has been nearly two months since you’ve seen the Pigskin Preacher mention him. My self imposed T.O.-fast was a wonderful experience! Here’s hoping I’ll have little cause to mention him after Thanksgiving. So, who will be covering the oft-spoken one? Juran Bolden would draw the assignment, but he’s a little nicked up after last week’s win. Then there is Texan castaway Phillip Buchanon. How does T.O. like his toast? Here’s hoping the aforementioned pass rush gets to Tony Romo… on every play.

If he's a cap casualty, maybe we could sign him on the cheap next yr. Nice pass rusher.

Are we reverting back to the 4-3 or is Rice gonna learn how to pass cover?

Rice might end up a Cowboy next year folks, as a 3-4 Linebacker, naw let me stop kidding around..LMAO!

Dallas will face Buchanon for the second time in one season with a different team, that's pretty amazing, we get another shot at him...
