Amazing how many want to boast about being mediocre

My simple math.
Our first 8 opponents record to this point is 50-30. That equates to a .625 winning %. By far the hardest in the NFL. We were 3-5, and came within 2 feet and 4 fingertips of 5-3, plus played 2 other top teams as hard as they have been played this year.
Our second 8 opponents record to this point is 32-48. That equates to a .400 winning %. Which is the lowest remaining in the NFL. We are 2-0 so far against this schedule to bring us to 5-5.
Tomorrow we will hopefully move on the other side of the ledger and have a winning record. Then if the Packers handle the Giants, as they should, we will take the lead in the NFC East.
This despite a horrible OL to provide that no blocking you mentioned. This despite no running game due to a combination of no blocking and a key injury to our star RB and the heart of the Offense having some semblance of balance. This despite losing our Defensive leader and top tackler which leads to no tackling as you mentioned. Throw in 4 other key injuries and it can be seen as a miracle that we have contended at all.
I believe in miracles.

I also see a split with Washington.
7-9. No winning record.
I'm a fan, not a hater, but that's just the way I see it.

I said it at the beginning of the year, this team feels different to me than the ones in the past. We have not had a ton of success, granted but we have fought harder this year than I have seen in a long time. That is very encouraging.
I think we beat Washingtion this week, Philly next week, I think we beat Cincy and Pittsburgh and washington again. The NO game is a toss up, so I will go with a loss there and we finish 10-6! How about that.

Let's wait and see what happens tomorrow, before talking about contending. If we beat the Commanders and the Pack takes care of the Giants, then yes, we are right there in contention for the division. I want to see a competent offense tomorrow and a defensive game plan that holds RGIII in check before I get too excited.
Or we could acknowledge that the Commanders are also still in contention. Then we don't have to feel all guilty over something as innocent as the fact the Cowboys are.links18;4852403 said:As much as we are in contention today; we could also fall to third place in the NFC Least tomorrow behind a dreadful Commanders team that just beat us at home. Every schedule has a soft part.
But for the football fan with enough experiences watching this game, the truth is on the table.
This team struggles with good defenses.
This team doesn't score enough points against those tough defenses.
This team has the Stealers, Bengals on the road, Saints, Washington twice and Philly.
Some around here pencil in what they think are gimme games.
Time is running out and all the math used by some doesn't block the blitz, nor does it open holes for the running game, and it doesn't cause the WR's to understand the nuances of the game and run the right routes.
And it sure doesn't cause Opie to manage a team successfully.

The answer is draft slotting.
Because .500 ain't winning in my book.
TwoDeep3;4852655 said:I always figured contending was getting past the first play-off game.
I mean they do call that punch drunk pug who is ranked 10th a contender.
But is he really?
Dallas played Cleveland and the announcers were talking all through the game how the Browns needed to learn how to win. They played tough but lost late.
So is this a real test?
Is beating a rookie QB with the Eagles a real test?
Is beating the Bucs who decided to be brain dead calling running plays when their passing game was working a real test?
And why should you care what I think about this team?
But when they end up 6-10 or 7-9, no play-offs and another season of Romo wasted, I ask you this.
