Oh that explains it.....

Thanks, none of us knew this man. How did we miss all of that?

Most thought it was Jerry or some type of conspiracy.

What happens after Thursday? Then your formula turns to mush

Geesh. Just trying to insert some humor

your algorithm needs to include....
- gutsy QB play
- key players returning from injury
- supposedly top tier players delivering
- due luck (if we didn't use it all up against CLE)!

:)

Once again someone talking out their arse with no facts to back them up

Aaron Rodgers sacked 32 times oh winning record
Ponder 25 Times
Alex Smith 25 times
Tannehill 19
Fitzptarick 18
Weeden 16

There is no correlation between sacks and wins and losses in fact it is all over the board

How is it that Rodgers who has been pounded at times this years 32 sacks and is 7-3 easy he does not turn the ball over.

Dallas is in the negative turnover margins Dallas is -9

You want to know why Cleveland has been in a lot of tight games this year they are +1 in TO Margin

Want to know why Seattle has won as many games they are +1 in TO margin

There are always exception some how the Colts are -13 and have a winning record but last week they got stomped because they Turned the Ball over.

Protecting the football gives you a great chance to win and Dallas does not protect the football and it starts with our QB. Who by the way fumbled the ball once again

Mine won't be funny.

My simple math.

Our first 8 opponents record to this point is 50-30. That equates to a .625 winning %. By far the hardest in the NFL. We were 3-5, and came within 2 feet and 4 fingertips of 5-3, plus played 2 other top teams as hard as they have been played this year.

Our second 8 opponents record to this point is 32-48. That equates to a .400 winning %. Which is the lowest remaining in the NFL. We are 2-0 so far against this schedule to bring us to 5-5.

Tomorrow we will hopefully move on the other side of the ledger and have a winning record. Then if the Packers handle the Giants, as they should, we will take the lead in the NFC East.

This despite a horrible OL to provide that no blocking you mentioned. This despite no running game due to a combination of no blocking and a key injury to our star RB and the heart of the Offense having some semblance of balance. This despite losing our Defensive leader and top tackler which leads to no tackling as you mentioned. Throw in 4 other key injuries and it can be seen as a miracle that we have contended at all.

I believe in miracles.

Ouch!

How dare you supply meaningful stats...

It amazes me so many people don't see TOs as being one of the biggest predictors for winning and losing.

Still the math for football is not simple although it doesn't necessarily have to be that complicated either. TOs, field position, big plays, breaks, and mistakes are biggies.

"miracle we have contended at all" Contending when? Did the rest of us miss something?

Nothing like an eternal optimist to show the rest of us that see an undisciplined, mistake prone team that will need weekly miracles to even sniff contention, is actually in pretty good shape.

Man, reading your post it sounds like a description of a really good team that has had tons of bad luck and is actually seeing the bad luck in the rear view mirror.

We are contending, right now, for the NFC East.

We are in contention for the NFCE and the Giants barely scraped in last year.Welcome to today's NFL where if you just get in the playoffs anything can happen. Do I think they go all the way if they make the playoffs ? no Lets not act like other mediocre teams have not scrapped into the playoffs and gone on runs Giants, AZ are a few in the last 5 years.

This is today's NFL which means we have a chance does not mean it will happen; the odds are stacked against Dallas. Does not mean we are not in the picture at this time because Dallas is in the Picture it is just a fuzzy object in the background

A big difference between Romo and Rodgers is that when there is pressure, Rodgers often looks to his first read and if it isn't there he'll try to run with the ball. A ton of his sacks are on plays where he's tucked the ball in and is starting to run. Year after year I have been shocked at how little Tony runs the ball. Rodgers runs about 60 times a year. Tony is about half of that. Rodgers gets almost 5 YPC whereas Romo is closer to 3 YPC.

That "run it" mentality leads to greater ball security.

Not everyone, but you apparently have. I outlined it in the post. A win tomorrow and a loss by the Giants to the Packers on Sunday puts us in front of the NFC East.

Where I come from that is called contending.

It is -- I think many folks on the board fail realize that while we are 5-5, we've compiled that record while playing 6 road games and only 4 home games. Being .500 on the road is outstanding. You go .500 on the road every season and you are likely to be in playoff contention.

Momentary contending with a brutal schedule coming up means zip.

Every schedule has a soft part.

But for the football fan with enough experiences watching this game, the truth is on the table.

This team struggles with good defenses.

This team doesn't score enough points against those tough defenses.

This team has the Stealers, Bengals on the road, Saints, Washington twice and Philly.

Some around here pencil in what they think are gimme games.

Time is running out and all the math used by some doesn't block the blitz, nor does it open holes for the running game, and it doesn't cause the WR's to understand the nuances of the game and run the right routes.

And it sure doesn't cause Opie to manage a team successfully.
