Simple Math

Not everyone, but you apparently have. I outlined it in the post. A win tomorrow and a loss by the Giants to the Packers on Sunday puts us in front of the NFC East.

Where I come from that is called contending.

Seems some are so tied up in the negative with this team, they don't have room for anything positive. Like we are in contention for the NFCE crown and if we pull that off, anything is possible. This team can complete with any team in the league, bar none. I expect us to win the division and make noise in the playoffs. Don't look now, but we are about to get back to as healthy as we can be, just in time to make a serious run. I have faith but what do I know, I am just a fan, not a realist.

Momentary contending with a brutal schedule coming up means zip.

Every schedule has a soft part.

But for the football fan with enough experiences watching this game, the truth is on the table.

This team struggles with good defenses.

This team doesn't score enough points against those tough defenses.

This team has the Stealers, Bengals on the road, Saints, Washington twice and Philly.

Some around here pencil in what they think are gimme games.

Time is running out and all the math used by some doesn't block the blitz, nor does it open holes for the running game, and it doesn't cause the WR's to understand the nuances of the game and run the right routes.

And it sure doesn't cause Opie to manage a team successfully.

um, what??? we can't pencil in the wins, but what are you saying? our whole 16 game schedule is totally brutal?? it is commonly accepted that the beginning of our schedule was the tough part and the rest is easier. compare the records of the teams we play.

So we just write the season off? Cowboys have shown they can play quality ball we have yet to show we can do it for 4 qrts but this team is capable of winning vs any team they face.

Please don't tell us you're happy with a 5-5 record.

Oh, I forgot ... at least we're not the Bengals.

I provided the winning %s for easy comparison.

I must have been walking over a bridge when I posted it though.

And here comes the usual reply.

I hope I am proven wrong.

They have yet to do it this season.

Do as you like. I see so many holes in this offense that it's a wonder Romo isn't in traction.

Quality ball seems to be the contention here. Just like the silliness of claiming this team is a contender.

I won't pretend to speak for him, but there IS a difference between the facts of the team contending for the NFC East and how he feels about being 5-5. Why not simply ask him if he's happy with 5-5 instead of getting butt hurt and assuming?

Once again someone talking out their arse with no facts to back them up

Aaron Rodgers sacked 32 times oh winning record
Ponder 25 Times
Alex Smith 25 times
Tannehill 19
Fitzptarick 18
Weeden 16

There is no correlation between sacks and wins and losses in fact it is all over the board

How is it that Rodgers who has been pounded at times this years 32 sacks and is 7-3 easy he does not turn the ball over.

Dallas is in the negative turnover margins Dallas is -9

You want to know why Cleveland has been in a lot of tight games this year they are +1 in TO Margin

Want to know why Seattle has won as many games they are +1 in TO margin

There are always exception some how the Colts are -13 and have a winning record but last week they got stomped because they Turned the Ball over.

Protecting the football gives you a great chance to win and Dallas does not protect the football and it starts with our QB. Who by the way fumbled the ball once again
But it's the offensive line, and the receivers can't run the right routes, and Garrett is a goofball, and Jones is an old drunken fool.

That's what I keep hearing, or seeing in this case. ;)

because then people would be able to have normal and rational conversations. that's not as exciting as putting words into someone else's mouth to provoke an argument.

So we are not contending for the NFCE crown?? I thought we were currently a game out with 6 games to play. Maybe I am looking at this wrong. Let's see the giants are 6-4, we are 5-5.. nope.. 1 game out.. We have played 10 games of a 16 game schedule,, mmm 16-10..is 6 right? So we are 1 game out with 6 games to play, right? I guess we should let the team know to go ahead and fold up the tents and head home, we are out of it, no way we can win the NFCE with only 6 games left. A 1 game lead is way to much to overcome with only 6 games to play.

THAT is the key here.

I see a team who has shown they can play very good they also have shown they have a hard time playing 4 qrts of ball.

I make no excuses for slow starts this team has had in most games constantly having to play from behind only to barely pull out the win or come up just short as they did vs the Ravens.

I don't claim them to be a top SB contender, only a team who still has a shot at making the post season if they can start putting 4 qrts of football and stop shooting themselves in the foot with unforced mistakes.

If Dallas can manage to get themselves into post season then like everyone else they start 0-0. Not many saw NY as a SB team as they sat at 500 for the majority of the season. Hell I don’t know how many times I heard those who cover the NFL say you can put a fork in NY they are done. Until a team is out of it they still have a chance.

Only thing silly is the quitter mentality some fans have.

definitely. especially because we currently have less division losses than the giants, too. more reason to pack it in.

Some people must think only the Texans and Falcons are contending for anything.

And GB was in the SB before the playoffs even started last year. Things change quickly. :laugh2:

If the Giants had not decided to have their usual slump we would not be contending for much of anything.

Amazing how many want to boast about being mediocre

No, the amazing thing is how some people are too jaded with the Internet tough guy acts that accompany being cynical that they can't look at an NFL standings and figure it out.

Seattle finished 7-9 just 2 years ago and contended. That is a fact, whether you are intelligent enough to accept it or not.

No one talking about contending is boasting. They are simply sharing the truth that some are offended by. Life goes on.

Things do change quickly for sure. What I find funny or sad, depending on your view at the time, is that for the last several years I have heard that the Cowboys, have no heart, they get punched in the mouth and they quit, they have no swagger, etc. I guess everyone just wants these things to develop without having any hardtimes. Well, you don't learn out to fight until you fight. You don't learn how to get up from being punch in the mouth, until you are punched in the mouth. You don't get swagger until you have earned it. Those takes hard times. This team is fighting for everything it gets right now, for a varity of reasons. If we can make the playoffs, I like our chances becasue we would have done what the Giants have done, picked ourselves up off the ground when everyone said we couldn't and fought our way to the finish line.

Go Cowboys! We aint' done until we are done!

Amen!

Hence why I recently said I love what I am seeing. <This will be ignored to instead create alternative reasoning.

I have seen a lot of fight in this team considering we have to play from behind as often as we do now if we can just put 4 qrts together and come out of the gate in the 1st half it could be a big help.

I'm not thrilled with being 5-5 at all but we are still in the mix right now and still have a chance to get things going. I have seen many teams through out the years get things going only problem was they were already out of the race. We are still have the chance what they do over the course of the next 6 game will tell the tale
