Simple Math

Tell it to NY who was 500 heading into week 17 needing a win to get into post season and then made it all the way.

before any team has a chance you got to get to the post season.

I don't know if Dallas will or won't but I do know with 6 games remaining there is still a good chance they can.

Really? Good chance huh?

Well, hell, if you're going to make up your own rules, then tell us so we have some idea of which reality you are experiencing.

So, when 7-9 Seattle beat NO a few years back, that was contending.

GB last year, 15-1, did not contend.

Gotcha.
On top of that every poster specifically said "for the NFC East." I wasn't aware that to win the NFC East you had to win at least one playoff game. Glad to know The Saints and 49ers joined the Giants in contending for the NFC East title last year. Great trick to do from other divisions. Gotta really give them extra credit for that.

Or we could acknowledge that the Commanders are also still in contention. Then we don't have to feel all guilty over something as innocent as the fact the Cowboys are.

The Commanders can't possibly be in contention. All I have read here this week is how terrible they are, how RGIII is a bust and how our rivalry is meaningless because they are never contenders. ;)

Yeah, one of the few times this place has sounded like a Cowboys forum in recent months. I've enjoyed it too.

Mine won't be funny.

My simple math.

Our first 8 opponents record to this point is 50-30. That equates to a .625 winning %. By far the hardest in the NFL. We were 3-5, and came within 2 feet and 4 fingertips of 5-3, plus played 2 other top teams as hard as they have been played this year.

Our second 8 opponents record to this point is 32-48. That equates to a .400 winning %. Which is the lowest remaining in the NFL. We are 2-0 so far against this schedule to bring us to 5-5.

Tomorrow we will hopefully move on the other side of the ledger and have a winning record. Then if the Packers handle the Giants, as they should, we will take the lead in the NFC East.

This despite a horrible OL to provide that no blocking you mentioned. This despite no running game due to a combination of no blocking and a key injury to our star RB and the heart of the Offense having some semblance of balance. This despite losing our Defensive leader and top tackler which leads to no tackling as you mentioned. Throw in 4 other key injuries and it can be seen as a miracle that we have contended at all.

I believe in miracles.

So if the Cowboys win the division, what will come of that...another ONE and Done in the playoffs...a tougher schedule next year...a lower draft pick....This team has no business being in the playoffs.....

ROB RYAN (notice i said nothing about Garrett) said it best...The Foundation has been Built now they need a year or two to develop and add a few key player's. Right now, you have to admit, this team is no match for the likes of a SF, GB, NO, Sea, or other teams that are playing good football. The Cowboys are still 2 years away from being a true contender.... Stop drinking the Cowboy Koolaid......This team looks lost week in and week out. This team has only looked like a playoff contender 1 time this year, and that was the 1st game of the season....its been down hill from there.

My first goal of every season is win the Division. I literally don't care about the rest of that post.

You don't know if this team will be one and done. This team might get hot and start peaking while other teams get worse. It happens. They might not make the playoffs. You never know that's why you have to let the cards all play out.

You're right. It does. But it's not often, and the way the Cowboys have been playing after Week 1 this year, it's highly unlikely that it will happen.

I, for one, don't want this team to "luck" into a Super Bowl win like the Giants did last year.

The refs handed the Steelers a Super Bowl against the Seahawks. Handed them one against us on the Benny Barnes PI. Damn Swearingen.

I'll take luck, ref assistance, or any other way. Hell, I'd take food poisoning making the other team sick. :D

Some people don't even know the history of their own team.

This team needs to get healthy and gel. It may all come together if they can stay in it until.
