She does have to create a new way to remain relevant :D

I think having the top album of 2014 means she is still fairly on top of the relevance mountain. Kudos to her for standing up to Apple on this. I'm somewhat surprised that other artists were not more vocal.

Based in the article I posted, Apple is paying artists more than the industry standard, and that was at least in part in order to conpensate then for the free trial period. Devil is in the details.

Opinions are always going to come down to the perspective of the person expressing it, but my opinion is that Taylor Swift has more money than she knows what to do with and is sincere in her claims that she is taking this stance because not every artist has the financial freedom that she enjoys. Three months is an eternity for someone that is barely making ends meet.

Apple can easily just pay the artists now and they are going to do so. Swift will no doubt hop on board now that her concerns have been addressed.

Apple is always trying to shank people which is why I refuse to buy their products.

This is all born from that idiot that died of cancer. Selfish self-centered *****. Karma caught up with him and deservedly so.

Apple is basically stealing the music of these artists. If I did that it would be a a Federal crime.

Wonder if Google Music is doing the same.

I know they are doing 60 days instead of 90 days but just wondered if they are not paying for the artists on that as she is saying Apple is not.

On a side note...I remember some bands not joining Itunes for years because they did not want the user to be able to buy individual songs and instead wanting them to only buy albums or the released singles (AC/DC and Def Leppard come to mind) but I think they decided to join after all.

Now see, I say screw artist that do that. I mean, why should I buy a crappy song? If you are a one hit wonder, I don't want to pay for the other nine crappy songs you made.

Better to take the dollar, then no money at all. Which is why they changed their minds. Now to make the cable / satellite companies the same way. Ala carte baby!

As for Google, I would think we would know if they were doing the same thing. Is Taylor Swift's music on Google Play? If it is, I would think the answer is no.

I don't think AC/DC and Def Leppard would fall into the category of one hit wonders but I do agree with your stance overall.

As far as Taylor Swift...I don't do the Taylor Swift so I have no clue lol.

She is not the style of music I listen to and after seeing her on a few shows and her coming across as a mega blank diva...I have no interest in following what she does or does not do for the most part...even if she is correct in this specific case.

If you think Taylor swift is not relevant and wrong in this instance then you are clueless.

She is blowing it up.,,, has been for years.
She is mega talent.

I saw an opportunity to take a shot at her is all :)

I know that she is relevant and is sticking up for others. She is a weird and quirky girl though......

Not my cup of tea, but....
I was curious what you were talking about so I Googled the current Top 100.
Swift is at #2
Ten again at 34
then again at 39
then at...
yet get the picture

About as relevant currently as you can get.

No big deal. I was just curious.

I agree that AC/DC and Def Leppard aren't one hit wonders, (I'm huge fans of both bands) but I still shouldn't have to buy terrible music and lets face it. Since Back in Black, AC/DC haven't had a full album of awesomeness. Why should I have to spend more for one good song?
