Everyone assumes Carp or Burnett takes over for Ellis but I bet BP goes with AL. .. if i remember he was doing okay last season before injury. nothing spectacular but no mistakes.

I think Al might get some time but I hope Burnett gets some work in...

I think we are gonna see Carp starting at OLB. Singleton I dont think will have the conditioning to see heavy reps there.

Either way I dont htink it really matters who starts there. They will be rotated often I think.

If our defense is to remain at any level... it'll be with Burnett or Carpenter at that position.

Not saying it wouldn't have happened, but Ellis should have been spell a lot more the entire season.

The announcers even said 70+ plays was abit too much for Ellis.

Next thing you know, he's on the floor holding his ankle. I was hoping it was just a sprain. 2 weeks, and he's back.

Let's see what the young boys can do. Burnett and Carp were high rounders for a reason. Let's give them a chance to show it.

Singleton can play SLB fine. Remeber that our run d only went to **** after we lost him last year. Singleton will get the running downs while someone will have to try to step up and fill the pass rush role of elllis.

IN bp Scheme of the 3-4.............OLB: Size matters, which puts Al at a somewhat disadvantage vrs Carp and Burnett, Hatcher, Junior

Maybe AL could play SS----steady play, no mistakes.......:D OK OK OK

MY BOLD PREDICTION.....

Akin goes outside and Bobby slides to Jack...

Akin was a beast at DE at Purdue and all he did was rush the QB

Singleton is listed at 250. Burnett 240.
Doesn't really matter to me, Singleton could never get any pressure rushing the QB.
Wouldn't surprise me to see him as part of the rotation, like someone posted, in on running downs.

I like this idea, but I see a rotation coming.

Well I wanna see Junior Glymph take a shot at it too however not this week.

There is something about him and in preseason he made the most out of his playing time.

My guess is that it will be a OLB by committe type of thing. They were commenting that Ware needs some rest. Maby it is time for them to start making some packages on certain downs for OLB pairs.

I trust Burnett now and Al is solid but not great. It would be really great to see our #1 pick show up and fill this role without much of a drop off.

I think Al Singlton is too small at 250lbs though I beleive he was second team OLB behind Ellis. Though, that was early in TC.

I suspect Carpenter is going to see time. He is our next sizable OLB that has pass rush skills. Everyone else besides Glymph is 250lbs.

Dallas was putting Hatcher out there as well at the end spot. I see Dallas using a lot of rotation at that spot now that Ellis is out.

Can't hurt to rotate Burnett/Carp/Singleton/Glymph (if we take him) so everyone is fresh.

Hatcher was playing DE in the nickel. Hatcher is to big to play OLB at almost 300lbs. He couldn't play coverage enough to take that role.
