Minicamp Ends with Talk of Cowboys, Orakpo

Drenched players just came off the field at Commanders Park after a slightly abbreviated practice on the final day of minicamp. Coach Jim Zorn cut two periods of work to keep things streamlined, but said that despite the soggy conditions, "We actually got some work done."

Zorn said that members of Washington's staff have been in contact with the Dallas Cowboys after a storm destroyed the team's bubble yesterday during a rookie camp, injuring 12 people. Zorn said special teams coach Danny Smith spoke with Dallas special teams coach Joe DeCamillis, who was hospitalized.

DeCamillis, who has broken broken bones in his lower back, is the son-in-law of former coach Dan Reeves. Reeves told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Saturday night: "As far as we know, he has to have some surgery. They say he is lucky he is not paralyzed."

"I asked our guys, if you're a praying man, to really remember those guys," Zorn said. "What a tragedy that is. How unpredictable that must be. Fortunately, they didn't have 115 guys in that bubble at that time because there might have been a lot more injuries. So we're thankful that there were very few."

Zorn, who asked for a practice bubble when he was hired here a year ago, said he is still holding out hope the team will build an indoor practice facility of some sort.

They should have known that tent wouldn't hold up. Someone could have gotten killed.

It wasn't a tent. The structures are designed to hold up in all but the worst storms - it either met its match yesterday, or was shoddily constructed. I'm sure the bubble will be investigated by both the Cowboys and local authorities.

It may have been a controlled demolition.

in what bizarro world?

The structure was built to withstand winds over 60 mph.

Thermite bombs had to be used in taking it down.

Good gesture from Zorn. He seems like a good guy. :)

I still want to stomp them into the ground twice this year though. :D

Oh brother. We're going to the witch hunts already on why it came down?
isn't it clear yet? Jerry and Reeves had a falling out than Jerry hired Joe to coach special teams. than Jerry tossed his old buddy T.O. some money to come down to valley ranch and set up some of those jumbo fans to give off the effect that it was a storm with "high winds" that destroyed the bubble thus breaking the back of Dan Reeves' son in law.

This has conspiracy written all over it.

I agree. When it was first reported while I was watching the Kentucky Derby there were no players or coaches injured and a few staff members taken to hospital.

Now it's 12 people and some of our most important coaches. When a storm or tornado is about to come there usually comes a warning with it. Guess not this time.

But wasn't the roof ripped off of Reliant Stadium in that same storm? You just never know with these things.

Someone on the grassy knoll did it.

P.S. Jimmy Hoffa is buried under the star in Texas stadium.

I think its pretty obvious... of course it is an elaborate plan by Zorn to try and gain an advantage. He is just trying to cover up his tracks with the recent comments ;)

Actually they deflated their practice bubble before Ike hit.

They did have major damage to the Reliant roof though.
