Is he deaf too??

He just said on Cold Pizza that Parcells has been "pouring gas on the TO fire" by repeatedly calling him out.

These idiots are so frustrated that there hasn't been a "meltdown" yet that they've resorted to just flat out making stuff up.

I have no idea. The media is really starting to get extreme. Watching NFL Live yesterday with Salisbury and Schlereth was almost unbearable, where they were doing nothing but bashing TO and how he may sit out all of preseason. 2 hours later, he ends up practicing. Then NFL Live at night had to change their story, and Salisbury/Schlereth just started switching their tunes and ended up trying to make up new stuff as to how this TO thing will go wrong.

I'm really starting to understand this whole media business. Basically, TO seems to be the most covered NFL player in the game today. If there are no stories, the media creates stories, or digs as deep as possible to perhaps find a story. If there is a story, even if it's small, it's blown so completely out of proportion it's not even funny.

I mean.. Steve Smith was out of 22 practices for the same injury TO had, who was out for 14 practices--you tell me.

The frustrating thing is it seems like there's nothing we can do about it. They're obviously fabricating their information out of thin air. The people who know enough to call him out on it pale in numbers to the people who have no idea and accept it because it's TO. It perpetuates the anti-Cowboy or anti-TO bias. They watch the shows, then accept the information as true, while those of us who know better scream in vain.

i'll tell you TO built this circus. i'll tell you TO loves the attention. i'll tell you his own actions have made him this "moving target". if you want to compare the two now show me what an *arse* steve smith is and has been.

he hasn't, hence - less focus on his problems cause he's not a known troublemaker.

great post, man. i couldn't have said it better.

the steve smith thing happening at the same time, and the drastic differences in the way it has been covered speaks volumes to me about how the media treats TO.

it's really appalling and frustrating.

Irrelevant. The guy was legitimately injured and missed less practices than a comparable player at the same position who missed 22 games.

END.OF.STORY.

Well, except for the media who will make stuff up if the actual story doesn't match their agenda.

I think the media was just as bad during the early 90s, when The Cowboys
were heads & shoulders above the rest of the NFL.

To me, it's the same environment today.

We had a couple of players get in trouble back then, & the story was
how the Cowboys were a team of thugs & criminals.
That's all you heard.

Let's face it, the Cowboys are the Yankees & Lakers of the NFL.

Love em or hate em, you cannot ignore the Dallas Cowboys.

Who cares what Skip says, does anyone really listen to that fruit cake ?
Yesterday he said that LJ Smith was the best receiving TE in the NFL.

oh bullshyte - you wanna go off and compare players, COMPARE THE PLAYERS!!! don't just pick and choose whatever tidbits support the current "whine" of the day.

TO has been a media circus for an awful long time. he's pissed off a LOT of people in this world and crybabied his way in and out of LEGAL DOCUMENTS cause he was TO. he was "too good for his own word". this is karma in action people - nothing more, nothing less. if you think for a moment that the media will play by the rules that a vast majority of cowboys fans WANT to see NOW (last year we giggled so happliy he was under such scrutiny - how about turning that hypocritical magnifying glass on the average cowboy fan who as soon as TO was a cowboy, he needed a chance those fans NEVER gave when he was an eagle, raven, 9'er - or whatever.

why not go whine at those fans and call them out like you do the media????

TO built this TO circus and our own owner rewarded him for it and like it or not this "media bias" *will be here as long as TO is here* because that's the way TO wants it.

like i said - don't just compare what YOU feel like comparing from player to player - you gotta compare it all. when you do that, TO is *no* steve smith, now is he?

yet you feel TO should get the respect and benefit of the doubt steve smith does cause you want him too.

wow. hypocracy abound.

I could point to instances where Smith was an arse... remember his ejection last season when he was frustrated that TNew and the Cowboys were shutting him down??

But TO sells. Steve Smith doesn't. And ESPN happens to have a MNF game to sell for this week.

The bottom line is TO did nothing in this situation to warrant all the coverage to the neglect of Smith's situation. The only reason he's being covered is because of his past, and the MNF game. The coverage has been ratcheted up this week specifically.

you could do that, but is steve smith KNOWN for that? if you want to make a few isolated incidents = TO you're gonna need to do better.

don't get me wrong, i'm sick of the media blowing this up also - but they're going to. why?

look at the reaction it gets.

Im from Dallas but I live in Atlanta now. Here in Atlanta it's T.O. all day on ESPN and NFL/TV, but how is it in Dallas? It has to be unreal......

it is. and it will continue to be. and you will see fans that just last year ate it up when TO was bashed, hate it now cause he's a cowboy and the media is being unfair and hypocritical.

some people never see the irony.

Uh.. we understand WHY the media is blowing it up.. we're not idiots.

All we're saying is that it's not warranted. You seem to be arguing something completely different.

I agree his past has a big part to play in it but here's the situation... in light of his past.

1) TO didn't practice... the coverage at first was slight compared to what we see today.
2) When this week began and this week's MNF game was next on their schedule, the coverage ramped up.
3) Now TO is back at practice.
4) And they are STILL trying to create controversy. Bayless specifically said BP "called TO out for his hamstring injury." Can you show me where or when he did that?? I don't recall anything about that. And if he had, it would have been all over the news.

Or could it be possible Bayless made it up because it fits his agenda, and TO hasn't "blown up yet." This situation has so far been no big deal, yet they're trying to still make it one.

It's like, well TO didn't self-destruct this time. But we can still make it seem like there's tension by reporting falsehoods.
