Jason Garrett does not belong in the same sentence with Marvin Lewis. Marvin was Super Bowl winning defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. Anybody that knows anything about football...knows that the Ravens defense is WHY they won that Super Bowl.

Marvin EARNED his right to become a head coach. Marvin was given the keys to a franchise that NOBODY wants. Free agents don't want to go there. Convincing top coaching talent to go there is difficult. So on a team that plays in a tough, tough, tough division...under the aforementioned circumstances...he has acquitted himself quite well.

Jason had ZERO success as a coordinator, position coach, play caller etc...before getting the job in Dallas. And Dallas is a franchise with REAL pedigree. It is a franchise where the owner will spend money. It is a franchise that players and coaches want to play/coach for. So Jason has been given the keys to a Ferrari...and driven it like a Yugo.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but Stephen Jones doesnt appear to be that much better.

It appeared early on...that he would be a breath of fresh air. But as time has progressed...and the radio shows, magazine interviews etc...start to accumulate...I am now convinced that over time...with the social media/digital age we live in....Stephen will follow in his footsteps. But the following COULD be our saving grace: Jerry will talk Super Bowl with Quincy Carter at QB....I have not seen any evidence that Stephen would be this moronic. But again...it's early!

At least he was part of the posse that overruled Jerry into drafting Johnny Manziel in 2014 in favor of Zack Martin. He appears to have a lot more discipline than the old man.

I told myself weeks ago...that I was so over this season. I went grocery shopping instead of watching the game Sunday. But the more I reflect on this season...the more I struggle with letting it go. I was never one of those holding out hope for the playoffs. I was past that. I was past even putting together an 8-8 season. When we struggled to get 1st downs. When we struggled to get ONE TOUCHDOWN in a game. When this happened over and over and over and over again....I knew this was much bigger than missing Romo. But the real question is...does Jerry know this is much bigger than Romo being out?

Too bad he cannot stop him from TALKING ABOU IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be one thing if Johnny Manziel was lighting the NFL up...but we have a 1st year guard on the All Pro team....a player we picked INSTEAD of Manziel...and the owner for 2 STRAIGHT YEARS...still has the audacity to put Johnny Manzeil's name in his mouth. And this is AFTER all evidence is in! Evidence that Manziel is not much of a player...not much of a student of the game...not much of an adult....way too much of a party animal. I mean...you can't make this stuff up!

Is that 40 year old brain of his that's a bit immature. Give him time to age a bit.

Well, he was certainly dumb enough to be in on the backup QB and lack of drafting or developing a QB thing, and he was quoted as being in on the bad RB by committee thing. Both of those two things right there are enough to make him a dunce. However, clearly not as bad as Jerry seeing as though he helped talk Jerry out of the Manziel thing.

Like I said...I am starting to have my doubts about him. And I can almost see this team react to the backup QB situation the way they did with the "special teams" draft. Did we have the best backup QBs? No! Did other teams win with backup QBs worst than ours? Yes! But when your front office is in REACTIONARY mode...because they are clueless...you get all the talk we are getting about how bad the "backup QB" was in Dallas. This front office cannot see that what happened in Dallas this year is BIGGER than the backup QB.

If your backup QB has to play 12 games...you are not going to the Super Bowl. So you might as well let the 12 games any backup QB gets with this team....mean something long term. Hence I would not push for a "veteran" backup QB. We had that this year...and look how it turned out.

I am on record stating I never want Jason Garrett to come anywhere near our next franchise QB....but since it appears Jason is not going anywhere anytime soon....I would be ok with using a premium pick on a QB. I just want a new playbook/scheme to be considered this offseason. And I don't care that Romo would have to learn a new scheme. The scheme we run is well known by now throughout the league. So trying something new might not be such a bad thing. Kirk Cousin's is a first year starter in a scheme he was in his second year of learning...and he looked just fine this year. So this organization needs to STOP with the excuses and demand these high priced coaches and players GET IT DONE!

Everything you said was right on the money. But I doubt the brass will do any of it. They will go out and get a veteran to backup up and wont use a high pick on a QB. And I highly doubt the offense will change much at all.

I don't want to get into the black/white thing. But I do know that Jason did NOTHING to get the job as offensive coordinator. He had never called plays at ANY level (high school, college, pro). He has done nothing to prove he is worthy of 6m as a head coach.

But this all goes back to the GM. The GM of MOST teams in the NFL...has an eye for how to build a roster....what a coach looks like etc...We have a GM that does not know what he is looking at when he is watching. Because of this.....MANY people have his ear. He wants to be the final decision maker. But when you don't know what you are looking at...you have to listen to the opinions of others. So Jerry fancies himself as someone that can comprehend the data he is given by advisors, scouts, former players, former coaches etc...But again, that is information from WAY TOO MANY SOURCES. So you get a mixed bag of opinions. Which leads to a mixed bag of results. Jerry cannot in of himself....turn on the film...and decide if Jason is creating a X an O advantage on Sunday. Jerry cannot in of himself.....study the opposition and decide if the gameplan Jason came up with is the best gameplan to defeat the opposition. Jerry cannot in of himself....look at the film and determine if a player is being put in the best possible situation to succeed.

I doubt there are many Cowboys fans left that need to hear this...but this setup we have in the front office is a hot mess. It is a rotting fish. And I am so beyond TIRED of Jerry insisting that we will one day breakthrough with this setup. Having said all of that...I know it will never change...so I am just hoping we get lucky enough one day to win again in spite of the culture in Dallas.

Well, Wade told him and so did Callahan.. as well as TO and Crayton and a whole host of people... but apparently the Garrett family has dirt on the Jones family that he thinkgs may embarrass him, though pretty much nothing the Garrett's can release that would embarrass Jerry more than what most already know..

Maybe they got photos of him hiding a dead body?

I bet you that story was made up to make it look like Jerry was considering a back-up QB to Romo. He only claimed it when he was getting blasted by the media for the horrendous QB play. Before the draft, he clearly ruled it out, and once Martin was picked, he stated immediately after the draft that they had 3 defensive guys ahead of Martin. If he was the BPA on the board as they claimed at the time, meaning the scouts had Manizel there, then there was no reason for them to bypass their own BPA for anybody to get him.

Jerry didn't even say anybody talked him out of it. What he said was that Manziel was on the board and they didn't expect him to be there, so did they want him to pull the trigger. And he said he decided against it, saying the choice was all is.

Which brings us to the point of, that would necessarily mean that Dallas had Manziel high on the board..

Jones had said that they had Manziel as the #5 rated player in the draft. And they didnt expect him to be there. Jones also made it obvious that if it was up to him, they would have taken Manziel. But he was the ONLY one that wanted Manziel. So he agreed to draft the lineman. Which means to me that its probably an entire brass wide strategy not to take a backup QB to Romo with a high pick. And although Jones probably agrees with that, he clearly will stray form any plan simply out of emotion.
