I understand it perfectly. Something isnt right with this team if everyone simultaneously regresses within a season with the exception of like 3 players. Our coaching absolutely blows, but tell name one player that has looked great these last 2 weeks. Poor tackling, bad passes, 1st in drops, isn’t all on coaching.

Here's your problem.......using a couple weeks/games evaluating players' entire careers.

I havent had the opportunity to read up on him yet, but was he there for Watson? Watson was far more prepared for the NFL than anyone realized.

Clemsons success recently is enough to be interested in their coaches. However I think Watsons preperation for the pro's is a real good sign

Good point. And Clemson QB Lawrence has played awesome even as a freshman.

He was. Huge Clemson fan here. Former player, awesome scout of talent, leader of coaches. Cannot say enough good things about this guy

Here is his bio from the official site

• Clemson’s run of eight straight 10-win seasons started when he became a full-time assistant coach. Clemson is 97-15 since he came back to Clemson in 2011.

• Had a big impact in Clemson winning five ACC titles. He has been on the staff of seven ACC Atlantic Division titles in the last eight years.

• Recipient of the 2017 Frank Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach.

• Running backs coach of the year by FootballScoop in 2017.

• Helped Clemson produce a school-record 3,723 rushing yards in 2018, breaking the record of 3,469 that had stood since 1978. Also broke the school records in yards per carry (6.55) and rushing touchdowns (49).

• Guided Travis Etienne to one of the finest rushing seasons in Clemson’s illustrious history in 2018, helping the ACC Player of the Year and Doak Walker Award finalist set school records in rushing yards (1,658) and rushing touchdowns (24).

• Co-offensive coordinator of Clemson’s 2016 and 2018 national championship teams.

• Named one of the top-25 recruiters in the nation in 2015 and one of the top-10 recruiters in the ACC by Rivals.

• He was named co-offensive coordinator prior to the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl. The Tigers have a 56-4 record in 60 games since he became co-offensive coordinator.

• Coached a 1,000-yard rusher six times, including Wayne Gallman in 2015 and 2016 and Etienne in 2018.

• Coached All-ACC running back Roderick McDowell in 2013. He had 1,025 rushing yards and 29 receptions.

• Coached first-team All-ACC running back Andre Ellington in 2012. Ellington was just the third running back in school history with two 1,000-yard rushing seasons.

• Played on and coached Clemson teams that have been in the final AP top 25. He played on the 2003 team that finished No. 23 and coached running backs in 2011, when the Tigers finished No. 22. Clemson has finished in the top-25 in each of the first eight years he has been a full-time coach.

• Spent three years (2008-10) as wide receivers coach at Furman and two seasons (2006,07) at SC State.

• In 2008, he coached All-SoCon performer Adam Mims, who had a team-high 58 receptions, and David Hendrix, who set a freshman record with 46 receptions. Mims continued to flourish under Elliott’s guidance and ended his career with 198 catches for 2,433 yards.

• Returned to coaching in 2006 as an assistant coach at SC State. That team was 23rd nationally in total offense.

• Entered the business world after his playing days were over at Clemson and worked with Michelin North America for two years.

• Earned an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering in 2002, was a First-Team Academic All-ACC selection and a CoSIDA Academic District III member.

• Was a co-captain of Clemson’s 2003 team that had a 9-4 record and a No. 22 final ranking by AP and USA Today. He had 23 receptions for 286 yards and a touchdown that season. He was also a recipient of a ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship.

• Dabo Swinney was his position coach during his senior season (2003). That year in a survey of Clemson players conducted by Anderson Independent, he was named the team’s “most respected player.”

• Had 34 receptions for 455 yards and two touchdowns in his career. He came to Clemson as a walk-on in the fall of 1999 and finished his career with four letters and 44 games, including four as a starter as a senior (2003). He had a touchdown catch at Georgia Tech that year.
Ok, very intriguing

Okay. So let's look at Dak. How should we evaluate him when his entire career is up and down? How do we evaluate anyone on this team this season that we're looking to sign this season if everyone has been up and down? How do we evaluate them? Do we sign them based off the entire inconsistent season? Off the first 3 all-pro weeks? Based off of last year and their potential? Because look at Jaylon Smith. Look at Zeke (who it still good IMO, just going downhill).

College is the way to go right now if you want an experienced HC. Payton is untouchable, and there arent attractive head coaches from the pro's available.

Ron Rivera is not an attractive candidate. Thats like going to a swingers party with your cousin
That's acceptable in Arkansas and Jerry is from Arkansas!! Lol

When ones career is consistently up and down, I would call that player Mediocre and pay them accordingly or let them hit the open market

Exactly what I was thinking. Just yesterday, she was adamantly "preparing us" for Garrett to stay.

Typical modern journalism - throw things at a wall until it sticks.
Yes,I was just in another thread on that subject, then saw this one. Unless she was just playing devils advocate, for arguments sake...I don’t think she knows Jerry that well. He’s been using the words “this season” and “as far as” in front of it for weeks.

I prefer BB. He's the only one who could come in here and do what he wants. All the other guys will have some sort of undo control placed on them by our beloved duo of JJ and SJ.

I’d say 30-31 teams want BB. He’s not going anywhere if Kraft wants to win ever again

A coaching change is obviously needed. I think a lot of posters here know you were not going to win a championship with Garett for at least 4-5 years. A change is way overdue.

but let’s not assume that is the only Thing needed. The organization needs fundamental changes In most of what they do. If I hear about our talent one more time by the media, I will puke. There talent is not good enough. Most of their big name players are not playing to their contract and the depth is not strong. Special teams is the worst I have seen. Defense is so bland and they don’t get turnovers. We are moving to the stage where we had a lot of young players to a team with not a lot of young talent, but players who have signed their second contract. That is a dangerous place to be because you very rarely get players who play to that big second contract.

yes a coaching change is needed, but let’s not lose focus on what the more serious issues are.

Sounds more and more like it’s going to be a hire from the college ranks.
I think that’s where the splash is
If you hire a OC or DC and promote from nfl team it doesn’t get the same splash as a hot college HC does

What needs to happen is basically a no go. Jerry needs to come out and do a televised mea culpa. Tell everyone that his way of doing things has contributed to the culture and taken perceived authority away from the coaching staff (exception of Tuna).

Whoever gets the job is given complete control over hiring the rest of the staff (no exceptions). Jerry lets the team know in a private meeting that if the head coach wants you cut or not getting much playing time that is going to happen (and actually follow through, no matter the player or contract).

We have plenty of talent
We don’t get the best out of the talent we have
