Do you guys know of any sleeper picks in this years draft like Chris Canty of last year that could come up and be an effective player for us this year that we could pick up in the later rounds, maybe a NT?

canty was no sleeper. Lots of mocks had him going in round 2.

In fact, I think Peter King spectulated that we'd trade back so we could get an extra 2 and 3 and try to end up with Blackstock and Canty

I don't know if there will be any Canty-like steals -- first round talent lasting til the 4th due to injury concerns -- this year, but there are definitely more than a few sleepers out there.

DBs Cromartie and Allen and DT Gabe Watson would be steals if they last into the 2nd round. All three carried high first round grades before injury concerns (Cromartie/Allen) or questions about their motor (Watson) dropped them down most boards.

I really like some of the FSs and WRs that should be available in the 3rd, though I'm not sure I'd classify them as steals/sleepers. FS Pat Watkins probably comes closest to that description, IMO. I also like DBs Danieal Manning, Roman Harper and Anthony Smith and WR Travis Wilson. Quickdraw's picks Jennings and Gocong are favorites of mine as well. Again, I'd describe these potential 3rd rounders as 'good value' picks rather than steals/sleepers.

There is some really intriguing talent on the second day, however, that definitely qualify as steals/sleepers, IMO, especially at the NG position. There are quite a few quality DTs in this draft class, but surprisingly very few that are best suited as 3-4 anchors. Of the top-5 NGs coming out this year, two should be available late on day two. Obviously, Ngata, Watson and Oshinowo get top billing and should all be gone by the end of the 2nd round, but keep you eye on Steve Fifita (5th/6th rounder) and Tommy Jackson (7th round or possibly UFA). I also like small school prospect Jeff Littlejohn (7th round/FA). I'd wager the 'Boys spend one of their second day picks on one of these three players. BP did pluck Jason Ferguson with a 7th rounder when he was with the Jets after all.

Le Kevin SmithHeight: 6-2 7/8 | Weight: 316 | 40-Time: 5.05
Official Bio

Strengths:
An outstanding athlete...Has great speed and quickness...Stout at the point of attack and an outstanding run stuffer in the middle...Can penetrate and make plays behind the line of scrimmage...Came through with the best season of his career as a senior...Has a lot of experience as a three-year (35 game) starter.

Weaknesses:
Durability is a question and he has suffered major injuries to both knees...Has an inconsistent motor and doesn't always give maximum effort...Is a little shorter than you'd prefer...Is not much of a sack artist...Needs to get stronger...Might be a wave player...Doesn't always play up to his potential and is an underachiever.

Notes:
First name is pronounced Leh-KEE-vin...An interesting player who has all the physical tools to make it...A quality nose tackle prospect who might fit best in a 3-4 defense...Could really surprise if he can stay healthy and play hard all the time.
