Slimmed down Bum agrees with Aikman on T.O. departure

Now that is some interesting stuff. One of the best articles of the offseason, IMO.

I know Bum talked like a complete outsider here, but you wonder how many of these thoughts are coming from Wade, or at least shared by Wade, and Bum is just trying to not stir anything up.


But the old cowboy is so dead on here on everything, from Jerry to Owens to team-over-talent to Garrett. I know Ditka said he always thought Bum was a great coach who never got the credit he deserved. Looks like he still knows what he's looking at.

Bum was pretty much echo-ing Wade's philosophy. And I don't think Bum was saying they chose Garrett. I think he criticized both TO and Garrett. He also said the OL played a timing-based run blocking scheme, which has absolutely nothing to do with TO, and that scheme really is not even in the mold of Hudson Houck's game. Maybe Wade wanted both TO and Garrett gone.

What do you mean, "chose Garrett"?....

But I do think he was being critical of Garrett, or at least saying he doesn't agree with his philosophy. That may change with TO gone, though. That's why even though I've been critical of Garrett, I'll give him a clean slate this year because things may be different now.

And like I was saying before, I do think Wade agrees with most if not all of this. This article talks like Bum is guessing at all this, but Wade has said that they talk after every game.

It is also one of the reasons Tony Romo kept getting hit. People blame Houck, but it had nothing to do with him. If this OL is not getting after people, instead, moving backward in pass protection and time-based running schemes, the speed rushers have a field day.
