Small blessing in disguise

We caught a bad break with Dez and Romo going down, but it might be a small blessing in disguise, we should get back to last years formula of ground and pound the ball with Weeden at Qb, its time for our OL to dig in and grind our opponents down, and with our defense coming on, we should be fine till our stars get back.

Yes, we will be forced to run now.

However the first two games are horrible examples anyway. We played from behind against the Giants and we played the team the defensed us the best in 2014.

Lets see how our running game does against a league average team.

One of the main reasons the ground and pound was so successful last year was because the defense had to respect our passing game. Without Romo and Dez opposing defenses will start stacking the box and it will be much more difficult.

Exactly.....get ready for 8 in the box every down

Let them stack the box, Williams, Beasley, Butler, Witten, Escobar, Dunbar can all beat 1 on 1. Don't be fooled by Weeden he can throw some deep bombs

I think Martin jacked his neck up more than we all realized, dude could barely turn his head

They also have not really been a whole unit all camp thanks to nicks and what not.

I hope it is that versus a regression because Callahan is gone.

We're only 3-4 more injuries to starters away from this being one of the most serendipitous seasons ever. If we could lose Witten for 6 games, we may finally get to give Escobar his opportunities

Hope so. Things just do not look right aside from Tyron Smith. Not bad at all, just not, right.

Even he was having stupid penalties. It was like the loss of Leary threw everything into a mixed up loop of confusion for the whole line.
Although I do have to recognize that the Eagles front 7 were pretty tremendous all game.

Their collective effort and their time on the field... I thought they were going to be dead by the middle of the 3rd quarter.
It took til the end of the 4th.

They are going to be shuffling zombies by Game 14.

I would say that we get exposure to some depth areas of the team that we have not got in recent years.

WR looks like a need going forward, so does QB, of course.

They were dead in the 4th. Only our turnovers/penalties kept us from running it right down their throats the entire quarter.

I like our receivers/tight ends/catching RBs. Escobar needs to grow a pair. Williams needs to secure the ball and catch in traffic. Other than that, I like the group. Not spectacular, but above average.

I think "blessing" is taking it a bit far, but I understand the phrase and the point you're making.

We will get to see what some of our depth can do without Dez and (last year) DeMarco garnering most of the attention.

As shattered as I am that Romo and Dez are out, I am also curious to see how the coaches, players, and this offense look without those two.
