I believe it was JJ who said that F Jones weighed in at 210 lbs at this mini-camp, and that Joe J. thinks that F Jones can play at 212 lbs without losing his quickness and speed.

A 210-212 lbs RB is definitely not a scat back. In fact, I guessing that was the similar size that guys like Tiki Barber played in the NFL.

About the same size and that Emmitt guy. But he was too small to be an every down back too.

In fact, sportsline.com has Brian Westbrook at 5' 10" and weighing 203 lbs.

I think that F Jones between 210 - 215 lbs should be just fine for what we're looking for.

Clinton Portis weighed about 200 lbs when he came in the league. He's heavier than that now, but that's the size RB Felix reminds me of.

Marshall Faulk was 5'10 211

Thats who a lot of people want to compare him too.

I actually think in the season after next he will be up around 215-217.

Emmitt had the same weight but he was only about 5' 9" and around 205 lbs so there is still a difference in build betweent the two. For Jones to have the same thickiness as Emmitt he would probably have to be 225 lbs.

It's never about the actual height or weight.

It's about the build of the guy and where the bulk is on his frame that will be the determining factor if he can run inside or not.

Felix is only 5-10 1/8.

And they say he is thick below the waist which makes you believe he can carry more weight.

His upside is very high.

I was initially one of the antiJones people. The fact htat guys like Rice, Charles and Johnson had carried the load and succeeded weighed heavily on my position.

In fairness to Felix, he has not carried the load and failed. I have seen a lot of people point to the USC game but considering how his line was dominated that game as evidenced by one of the fumbles occurring as he was getting the handoff, I would think that single game is not the best indicator. Felix is not a fumbler.

The good thing is that with choice, none of our running backs are going to have to. I dont like the idea of Felix going down and Barber carrying the ball 25 times either.

Great draft by jerry.

Jones is a tough inside runner but his forte is scat back......he can and will do both for us.....Wade will not be scared to give this player the ball at 3 and 1 to go.

Ah, didnt know that.

I kept hearing he was 6'0

In college he was.

It's a little-known fact that as soon as players turn pro, they shrink and inch or two.

Being a huge Auburn fan, i can tell you that when we played Ark, i was more fearful of Jones than of DMAC... Jones can do so much with the ball.. he can and will go inside, he has speed to beat you to the corner and is a threat out of the backfield in the passing game. Dmac for all his hype was a one way back,, he took the handoff and went, not much in regards to catching the ball. You throw in the return ability and I think we got the best RB from ark, imo.
