Smoke and mirrors offseason

Our greatest asset this offseason is that 4th overall pick.

Let's say we already signed Hardy or were in discussions in doing so?

That would be a clear indication that we were not going to be going DE (Bosa) with that pick.

OK, so let's say that we restructured Carr and signed Patrick Robinson.

We were looking at Weddle and Leon Hall and decided we were not going to pay that for either of their services, so we let him walk. Is safety that important to us then since we have Byron Jones? I would think not.

That would cool on Ramsey and Hargreaves, other teams could easily think.

Even an Alfred Morris signing would suggest a RB in the later rounds and therefore no Zeke at #4.

But we're looking at all of those prospects and supposedly bargain FA's. Too add to it, really no FA backup QB's, but we just keep bringing this Dak Prescott in who just got nailed with a DUI.

So that leave's the likelihood of Myles Jack or ooooooh, 1 of the 2 QB's in the 1st round of the draft.

But Jerry intimates that we're not going QB at #4 and Rosenhaus is saying Jerry said we have not had any discussions regarding Hardy and will not divulge our team interests. In all actuality it was Stephen Jones making that statement, so Rosenhaus is not exactly lying and nor is Jerry. Purposeful confusion being created?

Now, I'm really starting to believe we're waiting for the draft to finalize and then we will sign these FA's who probably already have a wink and shake deal with us, but will be patient to sign the deals so we do not show our hand in a draft that we are looking to get either of those QB's for our future.

So, to sum it all up. I'm starting to believe we will end up with this personnel wise after the draft has finalized:

We draft either Goff or Wentz in round 1
Brandon Carr restructured
Patrick Robinson and/or Leon Hall (who may be converted to safety) signed
Greg Hardy re-signed
Alfred Morris signed, if we don't draft a RB round 2-3 and he's still available.

Please chime in!!!!

Nah. Eveyone in the press said he was a cancer in the locker room. He'll remember that.

He's been used to the negative press for a while.

It was more Mincey getting that out and then the press running with it.

Yes, Mincey said that knowing he needed a job too.

Hardy will follow the money.

Hardy will follow the money.

Yes, Mincey pretty much stated him or Hardy.

I agree Hardy will follow the money and how can he not? He hasn't been able to totally cash in on a mega deal yet.

Now he's highly unlikely to get the pay day his talents used to warrant because of his reputation.

We know him better than anyone else now.

We've made it very clear in the past when we didn't want players that played for us here before.

We're waiting for the draft and there's been discussion while he was here on money in the past. We know what he's looking for and letting the market show him what he can get along with not wanting to show our draft cards.

The more I think about it, this offseason has been giving a ton of hints towards taking a QB at 4.

We have tried to upgrade our DL, secondary and RB position. The only position we have stayed put on has been backup QB. We have had mild interest in one player (Moore). Backup QB has to be considered the number one need coming into the offseason by members of the Cowboys organization so obviously we will address the position with more than Kellen Moore.

A few years back, we got burned with our backup situation and we went out and made Kyle Orton one of, if not the most highest paid QB in the league. The team does value the position, enough for a pick 4? We will see.

Morris just signed.
Sounds like Cowboys have a 3 year with Patrick Robinson on its way.
Raiders will not match the offer for Mayowa.

OK, so Carr probably restructures and we wait on Hardy for after the draft.
If no QB is there for us at #4 I think we go Bosa, who I am not high on.
Ramsey would prob be there if both top 2 QB's are off the board and I could live with him or Jack.

Really would like Goff and a humbled Hardy on a safe/fair deal for 2 years.

Leon Hall is 1 of the best tackling corners in the league
He's lost some speed but can still play the slot like a champ.
Heard in an article where Cincy was thinking of moving him to safety.
I would sign Leon Hall to a safety deal.
Would be a hell of a secondary.

Thanks and I have read that article in the past.

That same article dated Feb 22, 2015 also stated that we were unlikely to sign Rolando McClain, which we obviously did.

The report is also based more on what Mincey (a so called respected team member) has apparently said than the organization.

Mincey himself has had a history of being late and was let go from the Jags cause of it. He also didn't show much respect to our organization by letting out apparent team business and mandating "it's either going to be me or Hardy staying here, not both".

That statement is telling enough that Mincey even feels Hardy has a chance still being a Cowboy. It's easy to vilify Hardy, Mincey and the media know it. Funny how Mincey gets called respected in this article though. Media scratched his back for him since he went out on a limb and gave them a story.

Since it's based mostly on what Mincey has to say, credibility wise. This article does not tell me what the organization wants to do. We'll know more after the draft or if other teams start pecking at Hardy.
